Love this D300S

David M, Amazon
1 December 2012
  • Summary: love this camera...I previously had a D90 and the external methods of changing setting and modes on this camera is great...I would have given it a 5 but I haven't upgraded the lenses yet that might make it unbeatable. update: the fast shooting and the two memory card slots give me a lot of versatility/storage while shooting fast moving targets..

Nikon D300s My Best camera So far

azinheira, Amazon
22 September 2012
  • Summary: First let me star my review with a camera that I won for the past 2 Years. Pros: Great color balance Great image quality even I don't use pro 2.8 lens. Batteries after 2 years off use still last for over 600 shots with the LCD on to preview all photos. Great sensor even only 12 MP. Great white balance Fills solid and well made. Photos up to iso 1000, but never tried more to tell the true.

nikon d300s

harry, Crutchfield

  • Summary: I was awaiting the Nikon d400 which prpbably not be available for several months. I need a new slr body for an upcoming trip and could not wait. I simply went with the old tried and true, d300s. I am completely happy with this item. There will be no discernable difference in my photos with this camera and the d400 (or my 6 year old d70s).

Excellent choice for an enthusiastic beginner

S. Raissi, Amazon
3 January 2012
  • Summary: The camera is loaded with technology that I personally find easy to figure out and get comfortable with. Obviously you get as good a picture as your lense allows you to get. There is also the limitations that come with any partial frame camera. But since Nikon D700 (full frame) starts at $1000 higher price, I believe Nikon D300 is one of the best cameras an enthusiastic amateur can hope for. It is worth every penny.

My second Nikon D300 series camera

katy coyote, Amazon
19 September 2011
  • Summary: Having used and abused my Nikon D300 since it originally came on the market, sold thousands of dollars worth of photographs in galleries and personal collections, put it through the most horrible photographic conditions like high winds filled with fine dust, beat it around in a Jeep capturing back country photographs, carried it hiking up and down canyons of SE Utah, etc...this is one tough camera that delivers superb photos in all conditions.

A Quantum Leap for a Photographer

E. Parker "Just the facts", Amazon
9 April 2011
  • Summary: I started with the D40. Obviously, there's no comparison between the two performance wise, so let me stick with functionality. First, one of the things that drove me crazy with the D40 was having to navigate menus to change key settings like the meter, autofocus type, autofocus method. With the D300s, those settings are now at the flick of a switch on the camera body which is exactly what I was looking for in my next camera.

Too Much for Too Long

John Finster, Amazon
4 April 2011
  • Summary: The price of the D300s mated with an 18-200mm VR II lens had dropped down to $1800 and some change after Christmas around the time when the D7000 came out. Really!!! Why go back to $2300 now??? A measley 13% discount. How much warehouse dust does it need to collect while someone waits for some sucker to call and buy it? My first Nikon was a D40x with an 18-135mm no VR. A D40-X (WOW) with the same walk around lens Nikon had kitted with the D70 earlier.
