    Although a good camera, getting repair service for warranty work is awful. My Nikon was sent in for repairs for what they termed 'Minor parts' , it was seven weeks later before the camera was returned. Read more

The Nikon D300s is said to be an update to the two-year-old D300 DSLR camera. It is said to be Nikon’s next top-level DX camera. The Nikon D300s will be a single-lens reflex digital camera.

Features

It is rumoured that the Nikon D300s will have movie capturing capabilities. In addition to that, it will also have an audio-in stereo mini-jack as well as a built-in microphone. Not only that, it will also have an SD card slot alongside the Compact Flash slot. It will have up to 12.3 million effective pixels. As for its image sensor, it will incorporate a 23.6 x 15.8 mm CMOS sensor with a total of 13.1 million pixels. Not only that, it will also incorporate dust-reduction systems including Image Sensor Cleaning and Image Dust Off reference data. In terms of picture control systems, there will be a selection that includes Standard, Neutral, Vivid, and Monochrome, with storage for up to nine custom Picture Controls. There will also be an eye-level pentaprism single-lens reflex viewfinder. Frame coverage will be p to 100% horizontal and vertical. There will also be a quick return reflex mirror. The lens aperture will be electronically controlled and will feature instant return. It will also have an electronically-controlled vertical-travel focal-plane shutter with a speed of 1/8000 to 30 seconds in steps of 1/3, 1/2 or 1 EV, bulb, X250. Release modes will include S (Single frame), CL (Continuous low speed), CH (Continuous high speed), mark (self-timer), MUP (mirror up), with the addition of Q (quiet shutter-release). There will also be a 3 inch LCD monitor with a resolution of approximately 920,000 pixels (VGA), made of low-temperature polysilicon TFT. It will have a 170 degree viewing angle, and up to approximately 100% frame coverage, and brightness adjustment. Playback function will also be possible with full-frame and thumbnail for an option of 4, 9 or 72 images.
