Not exactly what I expected

Ana Patterson, Amazon
26 February 2013
  • Summary: While there was nothing deceptive in the description of the camera, being a camera novice, I did not understand that it did not even come with the most basic of lenses. Meaning the camera I bought was unusable without purchasing a separate lens. It was still a good price, and I was able to find a lens at a reasonable price, so it worked out in the end; however, for those like me, it should be included in the description that the camera was unusable as it was sold.

Less than a month old and already two problems

Fish a lot, Amazon
30 December 2012
  • Summary: I received my camera / 6 piece bundle three weeks ago. I found the first problem after unpacking everything - the "6 piece" bundle was actually five pieces because the box was missing the 8GB SD Card. Emailed Amazon and asked what to do as I didn't want to pack everything back up for an exchange, and they offered to ship a 8GB card to me at no cost. I got the card, put it in the camera, and headed to a museum to try it out. I noticed the 18-55 zoom was not very smooth.

User Review

wallrosy, Walmart
25 November 2012
  • Summary: This product is good for the price (if it is below 500, however has gone up now ! I bought it in black Friday deals) if you do not need video, since it has additional lens, you do not need to buy additional lens. The photo quality good and operation is fairly easy if you are first time SLR camera user. As it does not have video feature, I decided to return it and buy one of Canon EOS Rebel T3 which has similar price. Or you can go for D3100 model which has video feature.

R. Barrios Arias, Amazon
29 April 2010
  • Summary: I bought this camera after taking in consideration all the other brands in the same entry level DSLRs ill resume the pros and cons of the camera. Pros: -Very cheap -great lens in the kit -great picture quality -Fast focus -Small Cons: -NOISE is nasty after ISO 400, afecting lowlight conditions capabilities, which is one of the main reasons you buy a DSLR.

No autofocus with a 50mm 1.8D AF lens

James McWilliams, Amazon
24 April 2010
  • Summary: I bought the Nikon D3000 body to use with a 50mm 1.8D Nikkor AF lens because I expected to get better pictures in low light with the 1.8. I was unpleasantly surprised to learn that the 1.8, which is labeled an autofocus lens, will not autofocus on the D3000 body because the D3000 does not have a built-in autofocus motor. The reason for this omission, I was told, is to make the D3000 body more compact.

D3000 vs D5000

Ritesh, Amazon
21 March 2010
  • Summary: I was new to dSLR world and after a lot of research, got myself a Nikon D3000. Nikon vs Canon was a very easy choice and I thought D3000 was way better than Canon Rebel XS due to more AF points, guide mode etc. to name a few features. D3000 was good but somehow it lacked in low light photography. Also, it felt crippled when i tried on new things while learning to use it. After a careful thought, I exchanged it for D5000 and boy, how happy am I that I did it.
