List All 42 PricesThe D3000 may not have all the latest bells and whistles feature-wise, but what it does it does extremely well. If you can live without live view and movie modes it's the perfect beginner's camera. Read more
There is something we should get out of the way before going any further though: the D3000 does not feature Live View or video recording. The latter isn’t an unusual omission on a budget DSLR, but the absence of Live View may bother those upgrading from a point-and-shoot. They’ve been used to framing with the screen at arm’s length, so switching to an optical viewfinder pressed against their eye is a big transition. Read more
For a great price like $600, the Nikon D3000 is an excellent value, especially if you are ready to move into more advanced photographic waters. Once you start acquiring the lenses, a few years down the road you can replace the body and still have the glass. Read more
While it's the least expensive digital SLR in the lineup, the Nikon D3000 has quite a few new features, including a higher resolution sensor, a revamped but still simple body, an image-stabilized kit lens, and a new Guide mode. Despite its good printed performance, the Nikon D3000 produced quite oversaturated color, and had several very bright hot pixels across the frame, something that's very unusual among cameras we test. Time and again over the past few years has the Nikon D40 won our Editors’ Choice in the budget DSLR category. Now the D3000, which packs a larger 10.2-megapixel resolution, faster speeds, and much better autofocus takes its place as the best entry level DSLR. Although the category has since expanded to include reasonably priced DSLRs that shoot HD video, the D3000 rules the budget category because of its superior image quality. Read more
This camera is just great! Bought it via Amazon.com, it was delivered within 4 days. This camera is a joy to use. I bought it as an early Christmas present for myself. I cannot believe the quality of pictures, the ease of operatin' and the price...with a 'points discount' I got this $500 to $600 camera for $402! I'd recommend this camera for anyone wanting to update their photo capabilities! Read more or see product
I purchased this camera as I was about to leave for a 10-day vacation in Switzerland. This camera did not disappoint me; it was simple to use; took absolutely beautiful photos. I especially like having to use the view finder instead of the display to shoot the pics. Displays have always presented problems for me especially since I am near sighted with an astigmatism. So pleased I made this purchase, but I do not like the Nikon DX zoom lens I purchased with this camera. Read more
Most of my comparisons will be directed against the afore-mentioned alpha 200, which at the time was considered the entry DSLR of choice by many but has since been replaced by a newer model. Anyone looking to choose their first DSLR will no doubt come across their advocates of each brand, and nay sayers of the competition. Brand loyalty is pretty fierce amongst the more serious DSLR camera-toting fraternity. Read more

The Nikon D3000 is rumoured to be a slimmed down entry level DSLR camera, specifically a scaled down version of the Nikon D5000. Having analyzed its pictures thoroughly against the D5000, analysts have concluded that it will supposedly have a smaller body, no HDM connector, no microphone, and likely no articulating display. It is said to be the replacement of the Nikon D40, with parts built from Nikon’s existing parts inventory.

The Nikon D3000 is expected to have a smaller body than the Nikon D5000 and lacking a swivel LCD display. It is also shorter in stature and has reduced-size flash components, with a possibly smaller view finder. It will also possibly omit a microphone, while the smaller cover for ports suggests a missing HDMI connection. Not only that, it is also expected to incorporate the Nikon 50 mm f 1.8 on it.
