User Review

  • Excerpt: I bought this camera almost 3 years ago for the pockatable 18X optical zoom.  My previous camera  only had a 10X zoom. It is fast, the image stabiliser works well and image quality is acceptable when in focus.  The LCD screen is excellent. The big and I mean very big problem is the focus.  IQ is irrelevant if the photo is out off focus! There are two situations where this camera has problems focusing. First outside at long distances with the zoom above 10X.

  • Summary: Directions for camera use drive me crazy but those on this particular camera are very user friendly for a novice and my pictures are fantastic. I really do love it!

Lousy camera

John M Brown, Amazon
13 January 2014
  • Summary: The camera is difficult to use. I have read many different articles on how to take good pictures. They still come out blurry. My older model worked much better and easier. I wouldn't recommend this camera to anyone.

Nice camera

  • Summary: This camera has a great zoom on it, but doesn't zoom easily on video mode. My Panasonic did better. Nice red color, medium size camera takes excellent pics. Is easy to use. The telescoping lense is nice but beware on sandy beaches. I got sand in the lense on a windy day on a sand dune. Cleaned it, but some sand still in there so the lense doesn't telescope easily. Will cost too much to have someone fix it, so I just live with it.

The best camera for the traveler.

Erick B., Amazon

  • Summary: This little camera has made wonders for us. Every single mode works very good and can't stop using the sport mode. We took over 2000 pictures in our trip to Perú and most of them came out very cool. Even the shots of the flying condor's were possible thanks to the sport mode.

Takes Terrible Pictures & Breaks Easily.

J.J. Money, Amazon
19 July 2013
  • Summary: 1- Camera has always taken terrible pictures. a- They are slightly blurry and fuzzy. b- Even to get it to that point, you have to hold your breath and hold *perfectly* still for three seconds. c- Lighting has to be absolutely perfect (rare). d- On auto mode the pics are crap. e- Even if you mess with all the settings for each individual shot (who wants to waste time with that??), they are still bad. f- Back lighting or low light are huge problems.

never buy a Nikon

Chris Surdi, Amazon
4 July 2013
  • Summary: My camera was just over 30 days old when the lens failed. Had to send for repair and now, 9 months later, the lens is going again. Customer svc won't help..tells me they ..." legally cannot change the terms of our warranty"! What BS!! Worst customer svc ever! They obviously don't care about their customers. If I decide to go for another repair, it will cost me about $100! No way will I pay for yet another defective lens! I will never buy a Nikon again.

Nice camera

T. Rupp "Golf Anyone?", Amazon
25 February 2013
  • Summary: This camera does a credible job with a few exceptions. Autofocus for one is sub par and would definitely make for a better camera if it would only focus on what is said it is focussed on. Second, the menu structure is just abysmal. For a pocket camera there should be a much better integration of features; instead I find the options all over the map. The Auto mode works for less than half of all normal situations I encounter.
