Excerpt: I used to have a very good Sony DSC-W350 some time back. I loved the camera a lot, but unfortunately I left it in a rental car some time back. During the period between when I bought the Sony and now, Nikon released a new line of digital cameras, so I decided to try out one of their compact point and shoot cameras. I use many Nikon ’s DSLR cameras, but in my experience I have always found their point-and-shoot cameras to be a bit disappointing over the years.
Excerpt: The Nikon COOLPIX S8000 Digital Camera is a pretty reliable camera. It took very clear pictures and was very easy to use and set up otno my computer. The zoom function comes in handy if you go to a lot of concerts and have to sit way in the back, but the pictures aren't as good as if you were up close to the action you are shooting. It takes pretty clear pictures outdoors and I found it to be a very durable product.
Excerpt: I dreaded the day the old Canon camera died. It had been so reliable and took great pictures. I went to the camera store and did some research and tried out MANY cameras in the process before settling with the Nikon - COOLPIX S8000. I am so pleased with the Nikon - COOLPIX S8000. It is so lightweight compared to my Canon and is small, so that when I'm on vacation, it fits in my pocket and doesn't weigh me down.
Excerpt: I wanted a camera that was a step above the basic point and shoot but that would still be portable and easy to use. I am very pleased with the Coolpix S8000 so far. It has a 10x zoom, which allows me to capture sports and my kids on the playground without them knowing I am taking the picture. The LCD screen is large and very clear. The feature that I use the most is probably the sports continuous mode.
Excerpt: This takes amazing crisp and clean photos. The zoom is amazing at 10x, however, like the other reviewer said, I do believe that the photos don't come out as crisp, but they still come out much better than you could expect on most other cameras. This camera has an amazing battery life. I can take it out all day for a couple of days without charging, or leave it alone for awhile and it still maintains a good charge. It doesn't take forever to charge either.
Summary: I would recommend this item to anyone. It lasted less than three months before it began to fail and finally quit all together just hours before our wedding day. We had to rely on friends and disposable cameras for pictures. This camera is garbage.
"good at begining, not after 9 months and over 2000 pics"
23 November 2011
Pros: easy to use, but began to fail after 9 months of steady use, we took over 2000 pics, but then the close ups began to fail, auto focus was intermittent and time to start and focus became long.
Cons: Sent back to Nikon service in NY was returned after 3 weeks and did not work any better. returned for service and again after 3 weeks it did not work. Returned a third time and Nikon wanted over $100 dollars to fix.
Summary: I was disappointed that a small user-friendly owners manual was not included in the camera packaging. Also, this is the first time I have purchased a like camera where an AC adapter battery charger is not included. I was very disappointed when I opened the package and realized I needed to purchase this separately. The usb and cable system are very user unfriendly and inconvenient.
