Lauched in Sepetember 2010 it replaces the COOLPIX S70, adding 2 megapixels to the sensor resolution and substituting a 5x zoom with a 35mm equivalent wide angle in a slimmer...
  • Pros: Big, bright, contrasty OLED screen., Compact, stylish and functional design., No physical controls., Simple on-screen controls.

  • Conclusion: I like the idea of the Nikon Coolpix S80. It is an extremely slim and stylish digital camera. The fact that the LCD screen can control every single function also sets this camera apart from the majority of touch controlled compact digital cameras. Overall picture quality is very mid division though.
  • Pros: Ease of Use - Clarity of LCD screen - Small size - Very stylish looks
  • Cons: Dark corners to photos - LCD screen unresponsive

  • Conclusion: The Nikon Coolpix S80 is stylish and simple to use but looks pricey, yet it’s as close to a point and shoot camera as you’re likely to get given the lack of hard or “proper” buttons and its auto snapping features. You really can switch it on and start snapping.
  • Pros: Image quality, styling, ease of use, high resolution screen, HD movies
  • Cons: Stereo microphones pick up mechanical - and handling - noise, all encompassing touchscreen control, no dedicated “play” button, screen prone to marking, slide away cover can collect dirt and scratches the finish
