COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED. I strongly recommend NOT to buy this camera

  • Summary: I bought this camera thinking it was going to last a long time. WRONG. After the second charge it began having problems. The green flash light remains on when the camera is off and consumes all the battery overnight. It is called Green Light of Death. It's a known problem Nikon cameras have and they don't worry to fix it. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED. I strongly recommend NOT to buy this camera.

  • Summary: Had the camera for about 5 mths, ran great , pictures good, video ok, but then camera DIED. Would not turn on. Still under warrenty, sent back , and was told camera could not be fixed under warrenty cause it was damaged by me. Took great care of that camera, never dropped it or damaged it in any way, just stopped working. SOME WARRENTY...Talked to others who had this camera and they had the same problem...so take a chance, but you might lose out like I and others did.

Great reviews, bad camera

  • Summary: I purchased this camera for use in monitoring changes in skin lesions. The thing that attracted me to it was the high megapixel count and the macro settings. Unfortunately, the processor cannot keep up with the size of the photos and often requires about 5 seconds of processing between photos. If you are trying to capture something just right, this can be maddening. Next, the macro feature is just okay.

  • Summary: This camera is easy to use, great in low light ( much better than my more expensive Nikon models) and seems to take great pictures.

You can do better with the same money

  • Summary: I thought that I was buying an awesome point and shoot camera for backpack camping and unfortunately I am not impressed with the results at all. I used to own a popular rivalry camera that was several years older, however the picture quality on the old 8mp camera is by far superior. I've tried everything with this nikon camera and can not figure out how to improve the quality of pics.

Not a fan of this model

  • Summary: It took decent pictures - sometimes. It was very slow to turn on, and slow to take the pictures. Lighting always had to be just right. Day time outside pictures were much easier. Difficult to take pictures inside though. I took it on vacation hoping it would work well enough instead of hauling around my bigger camera. I tried changing settings but it didn't help. I've had other Coolpix cameras which worked much better than this one.
  • Pros: Lightweight, easy to carry.
  • Cons: Difficult to get nice pictures.

Frustrating

Joel A. Goverman, Amazon

  • Summary: Looking for a decent pocket camera, and purchased this one. On this plus side: Very clear pictures, and an excellent zoom. However, on the downside (and why I will be returning it), it is extremely slow in taking the picture. I tried shooting with and without the flash, and with various shooting modes, and it went from slow to slower. If you are looking to take pictures of kids, grand kids, or any moving objects, I would not recommend this camera.

poor product information/poor customer relations

Linda Sebastian, Amazon
26 April 2014
  • Summary: I just got this camera and I think I am going to like it a lot. However, I was not able to use the camera until I purchased a separate memory card. The user manual that came with the camera said nothing about a memory card specification. So I got a popular one on Amazon, and it turns out it is not the correct one. I read the user manual I had to download, and could not find specs their either.
