Summary: I had a Minolta SRT 201 film camera years ago with a telephoto lens. This "pocket" camera actually has more zoom that my old 200 mm lens. It takes good pictures and video for me but I am still on a learning curve with it to discover/play with all of it's features. I also purchased an extra battery with charger so that I would never run out of power on vacation or a trip. All it all, I think it's a great little camera for the price and for being a "pocket" camera.
Summary: I had been doing my research for a new camera for a WHILE!!! when this model came out, I was really impressed. although i'm still learning how to use it fully, the in-camera effects are fantastic!!! I am thoroughly impressed.
Summary: The supplied software (for downloading and editing photos taken with the S6500) does not work with Windows 8.1...this in spite of published compatibilities. The WiFi feature is non-operational with Windows 8.1 and the Wireless Utility application is not available for an iPad Air or an iPad mini. In order to charge the battery (life is unknown at this point), the battery must be in the camera and the charger plugged into a 120VAC outlet.
