Gorgeous style. Beautiful photos.
Nikon's flagship style cam is a bit of a divergence from last year's Coolpix S710 , one in which advanced shooters will not dig. The Nikon Coolpix S630 received a significant sensor and features downgrade, with only a 7x optical zoom in return. For 2009, the Coolpix S630 focuses more on ease of use and sexiness than image quality and useful tools. We liked the suave design and simple menus of the Coolpix S630, but felt shafted when it came to low light shooting and... Read more
The Nikon Coolpix S630 is a small camera with a lot of zoom and resolution. There’s optical image stabilization, a really, really nice, ergonomic grip (I can’t stop talking about it because it’s that good) and numerous point-and-shoot features. The camera has decent performance (some areas are above average) and very good LCD visibility. However, battery life and movie mode on the Coolpix S630 are not so great. There are lots of features which appeal to those who... Read more
The bottom line: The Nikon Coolpix S630 puts a little extra zoom in your pocket, but you might not find the high-resolution photos it shoots out pleasurable. Read more
One of the first things users will notice with the 12 mega pixel Coolpix S630 is what Nikon call its ‘Sure Grip body design’ which manifests as an interesting sweeping curve along the back of its body that, while subtle to the eye, is quite prominent in hand. The entire right side grip portion of the unit is curved in towards the palm to create what is a very comfortable and ergonomically... Read more
The Nikon Coolpix S630 is an eminently respectable point-and-shoot camera. While not heavy on controls, its still image quality was excellent, with low noise, above average color accuracy, and minimal lens distortion. Where the camera faltered was its image stabilization system, a slow continuous burst mode, and standard definition video with very little control. Read more
The reasons that this camera gets four stars from me comes down to the price to features ratio. Its a great little camera if you're willing to do a little photo editing, read the manual carefully (a few times-- I did) and tweak the standard setting to bend this sucker to your will and make it work for you. This is not a great point and snap digital camera, this is a good set up your shot carefully and don't take the software's word for it that everything will turn out... Read more
Slight contridiction with the battery. It lasts a long time when taking pictures, but will run short when downloading to the PC if you don't hurry. The zoom is unbelieveably sharp for a compact camera and the stabalizer is a blessing since it is so lightweight. Good display for review. It can do a lot of technical shooting, so read up on the basics to get familiar with it. Super little package for the price and a smart travel camera. We take it with us everywhere we go,... All in all these are tiny complaints for such a great camera. I recommend getting a case and screen protector for it and of course a large SDHC card and extra battery (from experience). Really this is a great camera for a little over $220 (at the time of this review). As with anything make sure you do research and try to get a hands on demo before buying it. Read more
If you are a big travveler this is the perfect camera for you. With a really good 7x zoom. Pros: far zoom, lightweight, small, good pictures, smile mode that acctually works (finally), you can put it in different megaga pixel modes (ex. 12mp, 8mp, 5mp, 2mp, tv, pc), many different modes so you can get the perfect picture but also if you want to take a quick picture or dont understand it you can just put it in auto modes. Cons: macro mode takes a little bit of time to get... Read more
Not too happy with the quality of photo's. The "demo" photo that was posted with the camera does not resemble the quality this camera really takes. Frankly, I'm not sure what camera shot the "little girls in a ball-cage"; but it had to be something with 15X plus pixel ratio. It's okay, but pricy for the quality. Read more or see product
