Great Camera

  • Summary: I bought this camera for my Mother after doing extensive research to see if it fit our needs. As point-and-shoot cameras go, this is a GREAT little device. The picture quality is very good, and using the Sport setting it captures action fairly well. I love any camera with a rechargeable battery, and this camera also uses the fairly universal SD and SDHC cards.

  • Summary: twice it's failed to focus; the part to focus has been replaced 1x, the camera is back at Nikon for the 2nd time. Good thing there's a 2 year warranty in Canada.
  • Pros: cheap and fits in pocket, easy to use controls.
  • Cons: unreliable

Performs like a $400 camera. Read the comparison.

  • Summary: You wouldn't believe that you bought if for around $200-$250. I got mine for a steal on Ebay, but I wouldn't have a problem paying that much after experiencing it. The color on the S620 is vivid with my indoor shots and is definitely a step up from the 10mp Coolpix, which lacked a great deal in indoor pics and/or low light (regardless of the settings). The drawback is the zoom quality for far away pictures.

  • Excerpt: Don't buy this camera if you plan on using flash. See "Problems encountered" below. I bought this for my wife last summer as a tiny carry-everywhere camera. However she never uses the camera because of the severity of the flash problem. I use DSLRs so I wasn't expecting the IQ to be very good on the tiny S620, but it is definitely better than I was expecting. The noise is less than I expected (but of course it's still a lot worse than any large-sensor camera / DSLR).

  • Summary: Use this for business shots in energy audits so Macro, high ISO settings, etc all get empoyed dependent on teh shot and light. . Camera lost focus almost immediately, and undr warranty Nikon fixed it. Cannot recommend this camera, specs are great on paper but the focus control is poor enough that I will likely replace it shortly, probably a Canon 90 or a G11. Too bad, it has the potential, but not the delivery.

Nice Camera

  • Summary: Nice camera, lots of features on it. Haven't taken too many pictures yet but looking forward to it. Not sure about the digital zoom on it because of grainyness. Need to read the manual a few times to get the most out of the camera.manual is comprehensive and throughy
