A touch screen interface replaces most controls resulting in a frustratingly slow interface for anything more than pure point-and-shoot operation. Read more
Pocket Digicam Looks Good, But It's Too Touchy With its high-gloss metal case and giant 3.5-inch, iPhone-like touchscreen, the Nikon Coolpix S60 just begs to be touched. But your lust will turn to disgust once you get to know this camera's internal quirks. In this case, beauty is only skin deep. It's immediately obvious that the S60's touch panel is what separates it from other point-and-shoot cameras. Other than the power and shutter buttons, all of the camera's... Read more
I ntroduced this past summer, the Nikon COOLPIX S60 is a stylish camera that carries on the form and functionality of this popular point-and-shoot product line. The bold, compact display of the Nikon COOLPIX S60 is highlighted by a 3.5-inch LCD screen and its unique touch-panel control system. The 10-megapixel resolution of the S60 consistently delivers high-quality pictures, and the 5x zoom lens allows for dynamic telephoto shooting. In the COOLPIX tradition, Nikon has... Read more
Armed with 10 megapixels, a 5X zoom lens with optical image stabilization and a large 3.5 inch touchscreen, the Nikon Coolpix S60 is set to compete with the plenty of ultra-compact cameras in the market, creeping closer to its direct rival, the Sony T900 in terms of feature set. The Nikon Coolpix S60 does several things right – such as the great touchscreen interface, decent feature set, plenty of scene modes with auto scene selection and the big bunch of retouch... Previous reviewer must have had a defective unit as my camera makes no unexpected noises whatsoever. I read lots of reviews of this camera and the common theme, with which I agree, is to read the manual first! You'll learn a lot about this camera which will help you take better pictures. Also, the LCD screen, which is very nice, does not do justice to the pictures taken so don't judge the quality of the shot based only on that. Once downloaded to a computer the pics look... Read more
In the U.S., Nikon is certainly marketing its point and shoot cameras better than Canon or Sony. The Nikon team uses a simple formula to win market share: Pay young, good looking actors and actresses to promote flashy, novel products. This was the case with the Coolpix S60 - a touch screen, in camera editing, a high megapixel count, Ashton.... But the "good stuff ends there." I purchased the camera for a friend one year ago against my better judgement. I could tell in... Read more or see product
i have owned my nikon coolpix for a little over a year and all of a sudden it would not accept the memory card. the pictures were generally nice. it seemed as though it knew when i had been drinking and taking pictures because every picture was blurry. i am assuming you need to have a real steady hand. the buttons are rather small. There were occasions were i would set up a picture perfectly and instead of taking this amazing shot i would turn off the camera.... Read more
