Summary: Good news and bad. The camera works fine and takes good photos. However, this purchase replaces the same model camera purchased a year ago. The original camera, purchased last year, worked for a year, then quit suddenly. Since it was a gift originally, I just purchased a replacement model to take its place. A little embarrassing to give a gift that only lasted a year. I would not look at this as a quality item, as the brand 'Nikon' used to represent.
Summary: I really like coolpix cameras, quality of photos, features, interface, when they are working.... but getting pretty fed up with replacing them even under warranty. Seems like they could fix this. My S.O. and I bought cameras at the same time a few years ago. He still has his and I have a whole lot of cords and chargers to show for several of these.
Summary: Had to buy a battery charger kit on e-bay to charge the battery in the camera before I could take 1 pic. ."Pain in the buddy". Nikon fix was as good as the battery cover on my last Nikon camera " That Broke on the second day". However the camera is working now and takes great pic's. Have not checked the wi fi yet. Here's a brain smart for Nikon! Try a you-tube video on how to use the camera and how to charge the battery.
This camera does NOT auto-rotate pictures taken with portrait orientation ...
24 July 2014
Summary: This camera does NOT auto-rotate pictures taken with portrait orientation. You have to do that manually - either in the camera (thru awkward menu navigation) or in whatever image handling-software you use. This is a deal-killer for me, and I returned the camera. I had just assumed auto-rotate was a universal feature for point-and-shoots in the 21st century. Otherwise: Takes pictures well enough for this type of camera.
A big manufacturing dissapointement! Features 5 stars!
8 July 2014
Summary: If it were for the features of this little camera, I would give it 5 starts. However, as far as manufacturing goes, it deserves 1 or even 0 stars, and here's why. Several months after purchase, all of a sudden, when I turned it on, the display stated "Lense malfunction". I contacted Nikon, sent it for repair, and the problem was fixed. Another problem was that my MAC BOOK Pro did not recognize this little camera, so downloading of photos was disabled.
Summary: Battery that came with the camera would not charge, so had to spend another $40 for a replacement battery. Camera takes good pictures. Lots of scene settings, but "Auto" setting handles 99% of shots we take. Slooow between pics, even when no flash required.
Summary: The camera is very slow both with taking pictures as well as between pictures. I was trying to look for a camera that I could conveniently carry around (compact) and could take action shots of the kids. Being that I want to take action shots, I wanted something that would allow me to take multiple pictures fairly quickly. This camera does not deliver in that aspect. Pressing the button to take the picture is hit or miss.
lens error, i currently am the owner of a 140 dollar object d art that can not take pictures
29 December 2013
Summary: after about two and a half months of light use (68 pictures taken) my camera can not auto focus and comes up with a lens error. I enjoyed it while it worked, but it worked for such a short time before it became completely dysfunctional. waiting to hear from service department, but if I have to mail it to another state, I will be out the cost of shipping, both directions, plus loss of use.
Summary: Less than 3 days of use and lens issues already occurred. The camera was well taken care of. And was kept in a camera case at all times when not being used. When it was being used, the wristband was being used as well, it has never been dropped or damaged in any way. Went through the support vwebsite to find options, but those options were of no help.
