Summary: this is a great camera. prefect size for my wife's purse. long battery life. we do get a lot of pictures with red eye though...even with the red eye reduction setting on. the flash also takes a while to reload but the pictures are very clear.
Great easy-to-use high-res close-ups but weak flash and long delay.

Summary: Great point & shoot camera: you don't have to worry about framing your shots with this camera, just shoot the overall scene and crop to suit later, as the camera makes good use of its high resolution. Movies are more than good enough for YouTube, even in low light (albeit red-toned in low light).
Excerpt: Picked one of these up on sale a few years ago. I needed something that would live in the farm truck so I'd have something for documentation when I needed it. It has taken a beating in there along with various tools but it still works. The photos are not the sharpest or best exposed, but they're adequate for the purpose I got it for. The camera is tough enough to withstand being piled under heavy stuff and exposed to a lot of dirt and dust.
2 Year review: Great portable P&S camera with disappointing build quality

Summary: I've used this for a couple years now. Maybe someone is reading this review looking to buy a used one. Well my first one arrived with burned out pixels and I promptly returned it. But Amazon's return policy was excellent and the second one arrived without issue. I was actually very impressed with how Amazon handled the situation and it gave me confidence to buy my plasma TV from them more recently.
Summary: My wife and I have been using this fully featured camera extensively for the last few days and we are very happy with the results. I love the way that it automatically uploads all recent photos to the internet when plugged back into the recharger - this has got to be the future of all digital devices. With my previous digital camera this involved connecting a cable from the camera to my PC and then uploading manually from there.
Gracias.
Summary: On the good side, the photos I've taken with this so far are great. Nice colors, sharp, and low noise. I have no complaints as far as this unit's actual functioning as a picture taking machine. And, as others have said, its really small, and the whole lens is internal to the camera body - it doesn't telescope outwards like some other competing models which keeps the unit thin, even while in use. But a few things dissapointed me - none are deal breakers, but...
Summary: Are you looking for a quality digital camera that takes great high-resolution snapshots? One that easily slides into your pocket? One that is reasonably priced? Well, there are lots to choose from, these days. Give the Nikon Coolpix S51 or S52 consideration. I am a bit picky and I was looking for something more than simple point and shoot for a recent sightseeing trip to Italy.
Summary: Pros: Great vivid photos in good light, excellent design, non-protruding lens, slim and easy to carry. Cons: Weak flash which is prone to red-eye, movie mode which is good but the sound cuts out a second or two before video stops (I've had a few Nikon point and shoots and they all do this!), can get noisy in low light conditions, slightly slow autofocus. Overall, I really like the Nikon S52.
