Summary: Great for vacations, you don't have to worry if it rains, you can take it to the beach, easy to use. Really like it a lot. The only downfall is that you can turn off the flash or turn it automatic, but can not turn it always on. I'll give this little camera a 7 out of 10.
Excerpt: The 10MP, 1/3" CCD puts it in iphone territory, but with a f/3.3-5.9 lens its not going to do as well in low light as today's better smartphones. The S30 is a success so far as it keeps all its flaws under control. It's a perfectly reasonable camera, and the kid-friendly features are very well thought out: from the symmetrical design (no fingers on the lens) to the icons on the LCD menu, to the image decorations and menu wallpapers you can choose.
Summary: Bought one initially in pink for my daughter before a vacation last year. Just before ordering this one my 3 year old did not drop it, but threw it and broke it, hence the purchase of this one in white. For the price, both of them were used it was no great burden to replace. Takes good pictures, very good for a child, good for anyone who wants a simple point and shoot.
Summary: You don't buy this camera because it takes good pictures. You buy it as a first camera for your kid. It is more shock proof than most, it is water proof down to 10 feet. It also won't set you back an arm and a leg so when it finally gives up you will hopefully feel like your kid learned how to handle a camera and can move on to better things.
Summary: I bought this to take snorkeling on a cruise to the Carribean. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an underwater camera, so after reading the reviews I chose this one. It works well enough for the price. I was a little disappointed that the pictures weren't as clear as I had hoped. But that may have been operator error. I'd buy it again if I didn't want to spend a bunch.
Summary: The camera worked well for taking pictures while on a week long canoe trip. The pictures were clear and sharp. I did not have to worry about getting the camera wet. I just to make sure i kept the camera in a ziplock back while on the water, just in case.
