Summary: I had this camera for a year and It worked for the most part. The flash would work during the day but at night I could never get it to work. I used it underwater snorkeling in Jamaica and it worked good. I took it to Cancun and I dropped it from about 3 feet and the screen went black and hasn't worked since. it says shock proof on the front of the camera. I was very upset that for my whole trip in Mexico I had no camera.
Summary: We bought this due to its ability to hold up in dusty environments and for that it worked. It did however have major issues with flash detection. There are some camera settings that make it better, but no real fix. In our application a standard point and shoot lasts approximately one month due to the high dust. This camera has been used for about 3 months now with no issues. We are going to purchase a few more.
Summary: I've had trouble with it freezing up or just turning off when trying to take pictures. If your looking for a basic point and shoot that is easy to use this is a good choice. It's very rugged also so great for a child's use.
Summary: It take ok pictures it looks wired. Plus it doesn't tell you simple things to know what to do. Like for a example how to use the flash i sometimes didn't know how to use it. I would take pictures it didn't do flash and sometimes it did. Plus you cant record anything under water under 15 seconds.
Summary: It worked wonderfully for us... during the day time. The flash is not something you can control. It's either on & auto or turned off. It would go off at random times, but we could not get it to go off in the dead of the night, so we returned it. If you think you'll never take nighttime pictures, it's a perfect camera with tons of fun settings. But unless ours was a malfunction, it's not going to take pictures at night that require a flash.
Summary: I thought I was getting a really good deal with this camera but truth is the manufacturing is botch. First of all the batteries, sd card AND the usb connection are all in the same trap door compartment so it is not easily accessible - tight fit - when you're trying to plug in USB to import pix.
Summary: Sometimes I have troubles w the shutter release but it has served as a sufficient outdoor pocket camera. I've even taken a few underwater pics with it. Seems to eat batteries fairly quickly and adjustments are limited. I'd try a thinner other brand starting w P next. It has proven fairly durable in the year + I have had it.
Excerpt: This is my 1st Nikon and I am impressed with some of the results we did get. I bought this camera a few weeks before we went on a snorkeling holiday last week. And I bought it for under water photography and nothing more. After playing a bit in the water, most images were very good and I do have allot of good underwater memories from the trip. Even with the problems I note below I will still recommend this because its a very cheap alternative to buy.
Summary: My kid love's it! If only it came with rechargeable batteries, I would give it five stars. If you use the video feature a lot, the AA battery purchases are going to be plentiful. It's waterproof to 9ft. That's waterproof in the tub, the sink, the wading pool, and a good part of the beach.
Summary: Maybe it was my bad luck because Nikon is a great line, however the camera does not work properly. It turns on when it wants and the same happens when it turns off. It takes a long time to take a picture. Probably another camera like this works just great. But this camera doesn't.
