Summary: This camera is so nice I'm going to buy another COOLPIX. I've had mine for 3 years and I'm really happy with it. One peace of advice, Read the manual. It's long but it's worth reading. I'm reading it again after 3 years.
Summary: This is one really great Nikon camera for all those quick snapshots we take on our outings. The operation of it is easily understood by even the most beginning camera shooter. I do prefer the touchscreen that this camera has rather than mechanical levers or buttons as a lot of other camera models have. I think it's a lot faster and not so prone to mechanical failure than those physical buttons on other camera's.
Summary: Great picture and awesome battery life. The power on by opening the shutter did kill my battery once, but overall definitely a good buy and worth the price I paid. Both video and picture are great.
Summary: For people who don't need the fanciest, most expensive camera on the market, this is a reasonable alternative. This point-and-shoot camera isn't the greatest in low light (though it is adequate in most situations), it gives a decent image in most other situations. It is small enough and easy enough to handle that you quickly appreciate the camera as a decent if not fancy camera.
Summary: I love this camera so much. It has tons of options and takes great pictures. I also love the panorama and 3D pictures. As stated in one of the other reviews, it does get a little scratched up because it is a slide on slide off camera and if you forget to turn off the camera (slide the cover closed) you find it out of battery.
Summary: The NUMBER ONE feature of this little camera is the sliding cover which protects the lens from the elements. I am a welder and mechanic and have managed to jam all of the fragile multi-stage lenses of many manufactures in the past. I photograph the inner workings of various broken machinery pieces while dangling from a nylon harness deep inside or on top of some mechanical device.
