The Nikon Coolpix P90 is a digital SLR that utilizes a 1/2.33-inch CCD image sensor with 12.1-megapixel and capture images up to a resolution of 2592 x 1944(on 5M mode). The camera features a 3.0 inch diagonal 230 K TFT LCD Monitor Type with Vari-angle, supports ISO sensitivity 64 – 6400, and allows users to store images on its internal 47 MB memory. The P90 supports SD/SDHC storage media. It utilizes a NIKKOR ED Glass lens with 24x optical zoom and image stabilization. The camera supports movie recording up to 640 x 480 resolution, hi-speed USB connectivity, Exposure Modes, Scene Modes, Face Detection (up to 12 faces can be detected), Scene Auto Selector camera automatically changes up to 6 scene modes to match scene) and Motion Detection (camera detects camera shake and makes adjustments reduce image blur). The P90 is powered by a rechargeable EN-EL5 Lithium-ion battery that provides up to 230 shots on CIPA and comes with a EH-62A AC Adapter. The P90 measures 83 x 114 x 99 mm and weighs 400g.

The Nikon Coolpix P90 is a 12 megapixel dSLR with 24x wide-angle zoom lens, focal range of 26-624 mm, VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization system to reduce camera-shake, a 3-inch tilting LCD screen, an electronic viewfinder for image composition, exposure controls with Auto, Program, Shutter-priority, Aperture-priority and full Manual mode, and an ISO range of 64-6400 (High ISO light sensitivity (3200/6400 at 3 megapixels, or 1600 at full resolution) reduces the risk of blurred images). The P90 features Motion Detection option that detects and compensates for both camera and subject movement. Other features on the Nikon Coolpix P90 include Face-priority Autofocus that can detect up to 12 faces in a scene, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically processes the picture to remove red-eye; Blink Warning alerts users when someone in the frame had their eyes closed, and the Smile Timer automatically takes the picture when a smile is detected. The camera also features the Optimize Image option that allows users to tweak the look and feel of images before taking them, with 6 presets and a Custom option. The P90 takes 1.4 frames per second on continuous shooting mode on its highest resolution setting. The Nikon Coolpix P90 include D-Lighting technology that brightens the shadow areas of an image on-camera and Quick Retouch after the photo is taken, an SD compatible memory card slot and 47MB of internal memory.
