Great camera at a great price, a fun way to be serious

deina, Ebay
25 November 2011
  • Summary: When I started shooting photos for my Ebay listings, I was really a novice, so bought an older Nikon coolpix, and it opened up a new world for me. The early one took rechargable batteries and was kind of a pain as the batteries didn't last long enough. However, my shots really began to improve with the purchase of a Coolpix P80, a camera model which by now is almost outdated-- as Nikon does nothing but continue to improve its cameras.

What I ordered

Overstock

  • Summary: This case is exactly as described. Just a light weight case with no strap. It is nice to just slip this into my purse or travel bag to save room and avoid carrying another bigger camera bag. There really isn't room to carry an extra battery or SD card securely in this case. Overall for the price I am pleased.

Nikon Coolpix P80 impressions

aestevenson422, Ebay
8 March 2010
  • Summary: Vice nice point-and-shoot digital camera. Bought it 2n-hand to replace my Coolpix 7900. The seller described it accurately and completely. I particularly like the viewfinder option. Although not Nikon's leading-edge model in the Coolpix line, the P80 is a fine camera. Not every amateur photographer needs to go the digital SLR (single lens reflex) route. Buy a Coolpix model and work on your composition, framing, dept-of-field, and color balances. You'll be happy.

Nikon Coolpix P80 Underestimated Digital Camera

mikesorun, Ebay
12 December 2009
  • Summary: I ordered this digital camera for several reasons. First, it is a Nikon and I've owned at least a dozen Nikon cameras and lenses. Second, it was small, great optical zoom and good pixel rating. I didn't think it was going to be an outstanding piece of photography equipment because of the price. I was DEAD wrong. This camera takes amazing pictures. The "VR" allows for taking images even when you have shaky hands.

Nikon's Point-N-Shoot P80

bjhubbell, Ebay
26 October 2009
  • Summary: I bought this camera for my wife. It is her first digital camera. She loves photography and does it for the pure joy of a beautiful picture. Strictly amateur but she has taken some great pictures. She found the P80 to be pretty easy to learn for basic shooting. Also liked the pre-programmed scenes that Nikon has on all their cool-pix cameras. This model is out of manufacture now, but that means there are some great deals on it available.

Sweet camera

Brian Klemm "bk2", Amazon
12 June 2009
  • Summary: My desire was to find a camera that was in between my pocket Canon SD1000 (a truly wonderful camera, but no optical zoom) and a more expensive and heavy SDLR. The Nikon P80 fits this "tweener" area nicely. I have owned the camera for about 6 weeks and have taken over 1000 pictures with it. It's accompanied me to a pro football training camp, kayaking and canoes trips, parties and multiple family occasions.

  • Summary: This is what practitioners of Kyudo, the Japanese martial archery, seek: "correct hitting is in correct shooting". And this is how this camera makes you feel after mastering and getting used to its controls and abilities. After months of research I decided and bought this ultrazoom. SLRs take better pictures but I refuse to carry all the extra equipment when on vacation. NIKON P5100 was the choice on the other end but it lacked both the x18 tele and the wide end zoom.

An interesting camera

Renee Aubuchon "reneesarah", Amazon
12 June 2009
  • Summary: My interest in this camera is about obtaining mega zoom and macro abilities at a reasonable price. While this camera is classified as a point and shoot, and it certainly can be that, it does have some overides such as aperture and shutter priority and manual. Without the overide capabilities I wouldn't have been interested since I want creative control of my shots. Just out of the box last night I found that the macro worked fine as did the mega zoom.

Kuichi, DP Review

  • Excerpt: I purchased the P80 as a supplement to my D200 and find it to be an excellent choice, both in the quality of the images and the ease of use. I highly recommend this choice.
