Summary: An excellent camera, best in it's class. Lots of features, very good ergonomics and most of all, brilliant pictures! This camera has become my go to travel, vacation, party, serious all around camera, camera, (I meant to say camera twice). Plenty of flexibility, programability and auto functions to suit most every situation 18 different scene slections, full manual, shutter priority, apreture priority, program, and auto, but most of all there are THREE user modes that...
Summary: This camera was purchased specifically for underwater photography using a plexiglass housing. The video capabilities of this camera are above average and Nikon's reputation for quality is exactly why I chose this model, very simple to use, light weight solid construction will make for years of great underwater photography.
Summary: I use this camera in an underwater setting while SCUBA diving. It has very good battery life. The controls are easy to use. The camera can be used in automatic or RAW mode. I love the tilt screen for on land shooting. Ample MP unless you want to do a 10' tall poster. Very good lens. Its size is perfect for my hands.
Summary: Picked this used unit up to see what it is about. Was surprised exactly how good it is for the $$$ in the used market. Have paid as much for point&shoot cameras new. This is on par with the Canon G series units, with better zoom thrown in. Photo quality very good, low light use very acceptable, don't think Nikon has ever made a bad lens this no exception.
Great camera, super size & loaded with features. A++++

Summary: Love it! I wanted a camera that I could keep in the glove box of my car without having to empty everything else out. This really fits the bill. Once my wife saw it and used it, it no longer is mine to use.
Summary: We bought this camera for our son as a Christmas present. He absolutely loves it! We feel we got a great camera for a great price! He has taken many pics and videos already. Love he has found a new hobby.
Excerpt: Bought this to replace my aging Canon Powershot A540. I needed an affordable camera that has full manual controls and manual focus. I wanted a camera that had better lowlight ability than my Powershot. I was waiting for a second hand G series when I saw this camera on special for about the same price as a second hand G. I like the LCD screen, plenty of detail visible in the pictures. I'm enjoying the extra zoom reach over the Powershot and the fact that it is faster.
Summary: Nikon describes the P7100 as a "compact companion to your DSLR that's perfect for roadtrips and vacations" and that is what they delivered. Full creative control - one camera-top dial give instant access to ISO, white-balance, picture quality (including RAW), picture control menus plus a customizable "my menu"; another set exposure compensation + / 1 three stops. Shutter speed and aperture set using front and back dials just like my D90.
Pros: DSLR-level creative / manual control including RAW., Excellent images including low light., Bright, large, variable angle TFT screen., Thoughtful control design.
Cons: Viewfinder not particularly useful and perhaps not worth added size / weight., For my purposes would be nice for menu structure to duplicate that on my D90. For that and other reasons I had occasional frustration getting the settings I wanted., If you care about movie quality HD is only 720p., If you have a sensor size fetish it is only 10.1MP.
