Expert Review

LetsGoDigital

  • Conclusion: Nikon Coolpix P6000 digital camera With the Coolpix P6000, Nikon shows exactly what is meant with a serious digital compact camera for the serious photographer. The camera of the P-series should be able to distinguish itself from the masses, and this is in fact exactly what the P6000 does. Most certainly compared to the other Coolpix models and to be frank, these do not resemble a true Nikon in my opinion.

PC Advisor
17 August 2009
  • Summary: The 13.5Mp Nikon CoolPix P6000 is a compact camera pitched unashamedly at the high end of the market, an area previously dominated by arch-rival Canon, with its highly capable G9 and G10 compacts.

Nikon CoolPix P6000 review

  • Excerpt: This tech-packed stunner of a bridge camera strives to offer a perfect balance between the DSLR and compact worlds.
  • Pros: Nikon’s rock-solid reputation for camera gear is reflected in the P6000′s performance: this takes bright, noise-free 13.5-megapixel photos, whether you’re the hands-on type who wants to tweak settings manually and shoot in RAW for more flexibility in post processing, or the no-nonsense holiday-maker who’s content to snap away and let the camera make its own settings and process its own JPEGs. And there’s added value in the form of a GPS receiver, which tags all your p...
  • Cons: If we switch our own settings to nitpicking mode, we weren’t particularly impressed by the tiny viewfinder, and some of the controls are unnecessarily over-fiddly. Also, the GPS receiver can be a touch slow to grab a satellite fix.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 review

Digital Arts
22 December 2008
  • Excerpt: Nikon’s eagerly awaited CoolPix P6000 is the replacement to the maker’s P5000 and its P5100 upgrade. Like those earlier offerings, the 13.5 million-pixel P6000 is pitched unashamedly at the high end, but it’s a market that has been dominated by arch-rival Canon, with its highly capable G-series compacts, and in particular the G9 and forthcoming G10.
  • Pros: High picture quality (at low ISOs); handy image stabilization; exposure control and small, well-built body.
  • Cons: Occasionally tardy auto-focus operation; unreliable GPS operation; Raw file not officially supported on Mac OS X.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 digital camera

Pocket Lint
19 December 2008
  • Conclusion: And so when you look at the P6000 against rivals such as Canon’s PowerShot G10 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3, you’re left asking if this camera is a missed opportunity by Nikon? Yes, it’s easy to use and handle, has innovative features (when they work, such as the GPS); the new lens becomes (probably) the P6000’s highlight feature given the other foibles detailed here. Low ISO image quality is stunning but given the price and the other problems, is it enough?
  • Pros: Build and handling, low ISO image quality, easy to use, image stabilisation
  • Cons: Basic optical viewfinder, intermittent GPS, high ISO image noise, price

Nikon Coolpix P6000

PhotographyBLOG
29 October 2008
  • Summary: The Coolpix P6000 is Nikon's best attempt yet at a compact camera that's good enough for a pro photographer, but ultimately it has a few serious flaws that means it falls short. In terms of design, the P6000 is a delight to use, with most of the control offered by a consumer DSLR in a more manageable, portable form.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 Review

Let's go digital
28 August 2009

Nikon Coolpix P6000 Review

LetsGoDigital
28 August 2009
  • Conclusion: De Nikon Coolpix P6000 kent twee sterke concurrenten, de Canon PowerShot G10 en Panasonic LUMIX LX3, die ieder in hun eigen gebied sterk presteren.
