Summary: Fantastic camera -- no question ... has an amazing lens on it, which gives you WYSIWIG results -- it's all about the glass, folks, and when you count in Nikon technology and reliability, you can't lose, not at this price ... and even BETTER if you can snag it on eBay, like I did for $80! ...
Summary: I was looking for a point and shoot when I don't to invade peoples personal space in a place like a pub as I would with a big SLR and appropriate lens. This has a fast and sharp lens , but is a little slow in the P and Auto modes, but better in A or S. Great with panorama. And yes i would recommend as a cheap and convenient discrete back up.
Summary: I got wonderful clear pictures in a very low light. Flash light switch to turn it off is great. This camera can take shots in low light thus most time not need flash light. Video takes a longer time to process (than my old canon camera) recording that prevented to take a shot right after. Wish to have a battery charger instead to charge the whole camera.
Summary: Owned this camera for a week now and already have a few irritants to report. But first the good stuff. 1- Excellent fast f1.8 lens- works better than my canon g12 in low light (g12 is f2.8 only) 2- Love the high res screen 3- Minimalist form/design appeals to me 4- Interesting scene modes- like the panorama and high contrast monochrome in particular 5- pop up flash is easy to understand-works only when popped up 6- 24mm wide angle - i am considering a tokina 11-16 mm for...
Summary: Very nice camera. Video is excellent, as well as the photos. One con is the photos are very saturated when compared to other cameras. My only other gripe is the button setup could be better. Example, when shooting in aperture priority the back wheel controls aperture diameter but the top wheel doesn't do anything. This should control ISO or EV... actually anything would be better than nothing. Minor gripes however as long you get the camera for a good price.
Summary: I was looking for a replacement for my Samsung NX10, a camera to supplement my Nikon D7000 DSLR and I read many reviews before choosing the P300.Many of those reviews were not glowing, but in my opinion the criticisms were based on criteria that this camera was not designed to be in the first place. More about that later.
Pros: Small size, easily fitting into a shirt or trouser pocket., 12mp sensor, Very fast f1.8 lens, making it great in low light, Good looks, Manual controls, Great HD Video, Excellent scene selection including panorama assist and easy panorama, Superb picure quality
Cons: Only f1.8 at wide zoom setting, Price of Nikon case
