Returned It After 4 Days

Tokyo Breakfast, Amazon
19 December 2010
  • Summary: I really wanted to like this camera. I had read all of the reviews on the site and decided to order it. The camera has a nice feel in your hands. It doesn't feel too big or hard to handle. The LCD is really nice. I really liked how you can pull it out from the body and adjust depending on what your lighting conditions are. I charged the battery and started taking a few pictures with it around the house the first night. They were ok.

Wish quality matched the feature set

N. Jaeger, Amazon
19 December 2010
  • Summary: My recent luck with the Nikon Coolpix series has convinced me that Nikon quality just isn't what it once was. I was looking to replace my Coolpix 7900, an absolutely terrific point and shoot which unfortunately met its demise in a puddle of spilled orange juice, with a mega-zoom. I picked up a P90 a few months ago (non-Amazon purchase), but ended up returning it after about a month because of sporadic Lens Error messages, where the lens would just stop moving or focusing...

Has some good points, but I would have gone with something else

  • Excerpt: I bought the Nikon Coolpix P100 primarily to take pictures of my children. It has a good zoom feature. It is easy to use, but more difficult to use WELL. My kids can pick it up and take a picture with it, but they don't mind if their picture is blurry. Settings are fairly limited. Indoor pictures are often dark, even with the flash on. It does seem relatively sturdy. I do like the video recording feature.

Bought it, used it for macro, returned it (poor quality pictures)!

Dr. Eugene L. Hirsch, Amazon

  • Summary: Bought it for the Nikon name. Wanted it to replace early Panasonic Lumix "bridge" type camera. Read all about the camera. Reviews were positive and negative. I decided to try it for myself. I love to do macro photography of flowers and every day things. Many of the "reviewers" liked the camera over-all. However, quite a few said that the optics DO NOT create sharp macro photos. I used the camera for 3 days, took lots of pictures in my garden area of flowers and bugs.

User Review

SDPhotoD3, DP Review
25 June 2010
  • Excerpt: Pros: - The feature set is really remarkable. If only they all worked as advertised. - Camera is very lightweight (almost too much so) - Incredible optical zoom range. Cons: - Image quality is horrible, at least in the one I got. Very dull and unsaturated, noisy even in good light. The few best photos I got from my 200 or so images I shot with it the first day were only marginal. - Horrible autofocus performance.

Great camera...disappointing pictures

Walmart

  • Summary: I am not a professional - I just like to take pictures of my kids. I bought this camera because my ultra-compact Sony Cybershot did not zoom very far and it was nearly impossible to get motion pictures that were not blurry. Now that my kids are getting older and playing sports these two things are a must. This camera's zoom was awesome and I developed several pictures of the kids jumping into the pool and running with not blurring.

Dale Sappenfield, Amazon
13 June 2010
  • Summary: I have been a photographer for 25 years, I have had several digital cameras in the last few years. Canon slr, Panasonic zoom, Nikon point/shoot and a user of photoshop, Corel paint shop, Pinnicle video editor. Here is my evaluation of the Nikon P100. Still photos: the photos in the auto setting are not good. Image is too bright and colors are off.
