Summary: I returned this camera. I was so excited to find this camera, a Nikon no less, and eagerly anticipated it's arrival. When it arrived, I devoured the owner's manual, and set it up. First negative, it feels cheap. Lightweight plastic, with an especially flimsy battery case. Taking pictures, I noticed that it is slow to respond, slow to focus, and the images are not as clean and crisp as expected. Got that feeling immediately that I had made a bad purchase and sent it back.
Summary: I purchased this camera because of its nearly 5-star rating; however, I should have heeded the warnings from those who did not rate it well. It wasn't until I was having issues that I found my complaints to be quite similar as those who also disliked this camera. First off, the quality of the indoor shots and outdoor night shots are surprisingly poor for a Nikon. The pictures were dark or very sensitive to your movement.
Summary: The autofocus on this camera is very slow. It was VERY hard to get any pictures of our pet dogs in focus because they constantly move, and the camera keeps trying to refocus. You can do it by aiming your camera at a stationary object and depressing the shutter button half way and HOLD it there. This sets the focus and exposure and holds it as long as you hold the shutter button.
Pros: Amazing zoom capabilities Not very heavy Good video capabilities (as long as the focus works) Good picture quality in sunlight Operates on standard AA batteries
Cons: Poor picture quality in lower light conditions Lag time between picts bad Autofocus slow/not working at all Video limited to 30 minutes Slow SD card (Class 10) takes way too long No RAW mode Not a lot of manual choices like setting focus, aperture
Summary: Bought this camera based on reviews, which is now a norm for me. Great looking camera, great price and especially a great color/design. Bought it to photograph a sports activities, action shots. This camera SUCKED in trying to focus after taking one picture. It did not know what to do and when it did, the picture was out of focus. I lost a lot of great shots because the camera couldn't freaking "recuperate" from moving from one shot to the other.
Summary: Takes brilliant pictures, but the flash is terrible, it is temperimental so you dont know whether its going to flash or not, when it does flash its good, but when your wanting it to flash it doesn't? And no, I am not just been thick, I know about technology and there is no solution! Even google tells me that it is temperimental.. will teach me to buy something without researching first won't it!
Summary: Only had this camera a few day, and left the settings on auto, but the pictures look very grainy and dull with bad colour saturation, when transfered to my computer. Will try to persevere with it, be may go back to my fuji finefix which is about five years old, but with far superior picture quality.
