Summary: Got this as a gift for Mom-in-law who had been taking pictures on her old cell phone. This is a great upgrade for her. She was very impressed and went on and on about being able to take pictures or video on it. Plenty of camera for her to get to know and enter the digital camera age. I, however am a Nikon user and have owned many cameras; most recently I shoot a D90 and my wife shoots the coolpix P100.
Summary: A great entry level point and shoot camera. Has good zoom qualities plus panarama and macro functions. Like all electronics you first must READ and FOLLOW the instruction manual. The manual is kind of a pain to download and print and it repeats itself. It's best to use Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries or rechargeable batteries as the alkaline have a very short life span. Once again do READ and FOLLOW the instruction manual to get the most out of this camera.
Summary: This Nikon camera was terrific in many regards: good, sharp pictures easy menu system convenient access to closeup settings, exposure control, and flash settings Weaknesses were: short battery life short camera life As with many digital cameras, there were delays in camera startup and shots. It's frustrating when you are trying to capture that candid moment, but it takes too long and the moment is gone.
Summary: I've had this camera over a year now and am quite pleased. It works well in auto mode but gives a lot of options for manual use too. I debated over the pros and cons of AA or lithium and decide on the AA's. My last camera used a lithium battery and was not easily available. With this the need for a battery can easily be found almost anywhere. What I did do was to purchase 4 eneloop batteries and charger for $20 at the same time as the camera. They seem to last forever.
Summary: Pros -Amazing price for what you will get out of it. -Great battery life, and even better because it uses AA batteries -Good zoom length -Above average flash -Works best in high light, like most cameras, and in the right situations can take pictures well about its peers -The many different shooting modes make it easy to use, while still having a diversity of ability. Cons -No Optical Image Stabilization makes it finicky for some shots.
Great! But, needs a round lense cover. Has a very fragil mechanical door that covers the lense.

Summary: This camera is great, but could use a hard round cover for the lens. The mechanical door is fragile and could be easily punctured in a woman's purse. Should probably be stored in a camera case.
Summary: The camera delivers good quality images and has enough features to keep you learning for a month. However, there are a few problems that I've noticed - autofocus is pretty slow and can easily be confused, for example when taking pictures of planes or birds in cloudless skies. Another problem is that the video mode is not straightforward to stop. Without the manual I could never guess how to stop shooting, so I just powered down the camera.
