Summary: camera arrived broken, because battery compartment door did not close due to broken small piece of hinge .I fixed this by putting a heavy rubber band around the door compartment to keep it from opening, which worked in this instance. However, I was also sent a replacement camera in the same package. This was nice of them to include another camera in the same package.
Summary: I bought this camera because all I needed was a basic point and shoot and this one is cheap and has a nice sleek design and uses AA batteries. Unfortunately, this camera's image quality is terrible. Nearly all images are blurred no matter how careful I am, and the flash/nighttime performance is exceptionally bad. I have used Canon and Minolta in the past with far better results.
Summary: I bought one of these as a last minute birthday gift for my GF and even the sales girl told me that she wouldn't recommend it... should of listened to her. Ok so the cons. poor image quality lack of choosing ISO options or lighting options. Long time to auto focus. takes FOREVER (5-10 seconds) to do anything after using the flash. The screen goes black and you cant even look at the picture you just took for that long. Horrible close up shots.
Summary: If you expect a cheap camera with limited functionality and picture-taking that will only work in good light, then this is a good camera for you. When we purchased the camera, I didn't expect that it would be as bad as it is indoors. It truly does poorly any time the flash is involved unless you're using the flash as a fill-in flash. Outdoors, in good light, it does reasonably well. Otherwise, it's a pretty lousy camera.
Summary: I bought this camera because I just needed a basic point and shoot and the L3 has a nice sleek design. I assumed based on Nikon's brand reputation that the image quality would be satisfactory but was disappointed to find that this camera only takes decent pictures if lighting conditions are perfect and there is no movement. It pales in comparison to basic models from Canon and Minolta that I've used in the past.
Summary: Looking to buy my first digital camera I did my research and finally decided to buy the Coolpix L3. Price was my first consideration as I only wanted to spend approx £100 and also I wanted a camera that was easy to use. Well thats the only two good things about this camera. If you want to take a picture of flower or nice scenic shot then its perfect but if you want to take a picture of a child, pet or anything that is likely to move then DO NOT buy this camera.
