Summary: I bought 2 Nikons in Japan when serving in the US Navy. One was stolen (a knowledgeable thief) and the other banged around with me for the next 2 1/2 year in the service and for the next 40 years, including inside a plastic case to make it water proof: we were in a submarine lying on the bottom off the coast of Coronado's Silver Strand where I trained for UDT special services. (I spent 2 weeks a year in the Navy Reserves, requesting UDT assignment.
Summary: I needed a cheap camera for everyday, and this camera was the best. It shoots great photos as well as little 1 minute video which I was able to upload on Facebook, etc. Highly recommend it or its latest version.
Summary: Bought this for 99 USD and it was a good buy for the most part. Only issue -- the AA battery slots are loose. Sometimes if the battery moves while you are travelling, the camera says it is out of charge which really isnt true. I guess that is the price you pay for 99 bucks.
Summary: At the end of the day, this camera ultimately takes very good pictures. The menu is a little bit of a pain to use and the screen on the back has poor resolution that makes judging the pictures on the spot difficult. However, once you figure out the best settings for your situation, the picture quality is excellent.
Summary: I got this for my parents who don't have many electronics. It works fine for them when they just want a picture, but the lighting has to be just right or the quality is really poor. Indoor pictures are not good at all. Ideally this is an outdoor camera. Other than that it works great!
Summary: Contrary to the first commentor (I believe he had a defective product from the onset) I love my new L20. A jewel-like body containing every important feature one needs to take excellent pictures. And what a beautiful video capability that camera has! Very smooth, can zoom in during shooting and has long recording capability. Everything works just as advertised. The pictures are brilliant with correct balance of color intensity vs. sharpness and contrast.
Summary: I owned a Nikon Coolpix (an earlier model) for about ten years (constant use) until I finally wore it out and needed to replace it. When I bought this one, I immediately fell in love with it. It produces sharp, clear pictures and could not be easier to use. It has a nice, big preview screen which gives you a very good idea what your picture will look like.
