Summary: An excellent durable stand-alone camera. I have taken it rafting, hiking, swimming, and camping. The GPS tracks bike rides well, and the battery life is better than any smartphone. The pictures are crisp, but I haven't found a reliable high-speed indoor setting. The underwater, panoramic, and landscape settings are excellent. The only setback is the same setback all digital cameras now face: it is not imbedded in a phone.
Excerpt: this is a great camera for the out doors kind of person. Its tuff, water proof and take great shots. We use this camera for camping, and water parks, this camera is just brought with because we know its not someing that's going to break on the way.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Nice Body Color, Short Lag Time, Small / Compact
Summary: This is a decent camera with some flaws. The photos are comparable to other point and shoot cameras, but not as nice as those taken with an SLR. Also the GPS function needs to be turned on and is t enabled by default (which is a major feature). We traveled abroad for almost a year before I realized that the GPS wasn't enabled. It is decent when it comes to water. We dropped it in about 30ft working on the boat and recovered it fine.
Summary: The best compact camera I have ever owned. Excellent photo quality. Waterproof, shockproof and dustproof to reasonable standards. Some of the settings are overkill for what I am using it for. I can bring it with me on my moutain bike and not worry about breaking it.
Summary: I am a professional photographer, with a rather substantial array of Nikon cameras and lenses. I like to take a point and shoot on my travels (or to events) to grab the occasional shot when I'm not carrying my camera gear. I had a great Canon PowerShot SD-950, which was small and took great pix, but it died during a recent trip. After considerable investigation, I got the Coolpix AW100, since it was both small/light and waterproof.
Summary: I ordered this camera for our honeymoon in Fiji. I knew we would want to take some under water pictures and not have to worry about it if it got knocked around a bit. It has been a Great camera. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was when we took a hike to a waterfall, I went to take some pictures and the lens got foggy. The pictures turned out looking very hazy. The lens ended up clearing up after a while but it shouldn't have done that at all.
Summary: This camera works well for underwater photos during vacation, which is why I bought it. The down side of the camp style is it does blend in, but we tied a bright color to the strap and that problem was solved. Sometimes pictures look a tad blurry since the autofocus sometimes takes a little longer than others. Overall I would recommend this camera if you need an underwater camera. Best one I have owned.
