The Nikon 8700 and the 8800 are extremely quite, quick and clear

Excerpt: The Nikon 8700 has a picture quality that is breathtaking. The controls are very ergonomic and easy to use. Nikon even sent a coupon for a free cleaning each year for five years. The viewfinder is large and clear and makes operating a breeze. A great value for the money.
Great Camera still takes better picts than current 14 mp cameras

Summary: I purchased my Nikon COOLPIX 8.0 camera as my very first digital camera. I was told when they got to 8.0MP that would be equal to 35mm boy that is a understatement! I have used this camera to blow up pictures to 16 by 20 inch and beyond. With NO blurring. One is a shot of my dog running at me full speed at the beach. The built in lenses are just amazing. Newer 14 mp cameras that are under $250 still are no where near as good as this thing.
Summary: OMG! I absolutely loved the camera I purchased. I own a Nikon D40, but I didn't want to take that much camera on my 7 day southern caribbean cruise. The coolpix 8700 was perfect. All I had to do was buy a strap and I went online to view the insruction manual for a few operation questions. I am so pleased with my purchase.
Excerpt: Noisy to a certain extend. AF... needs a lot of patience when shooting really close-ups (alright, I never got that minimum-3cm shot). Personally, rarely use those 12 preset scenes. Nevertheless, the Nikon Coolpix 8700 is a decent prosumer camera indeed.
I Love It. I Really do! ;DDDDDDDDD <3 great value for the money!

Summary: Own about 10 to 12 SLR cameras - late start in digital cameras. Tired of using old film style cameras so I purchased Coolpix 4300, S210, 995 and finally the 8700. Just got it today and what a deal (Macro & tele lens). Was amazed to find how easy it is to operate w/o owners manual. Forget a close of my dog and long shot of a bird plus my girfriend 62 y/o looks better with this Nikon 8700. Even got a kiss for my work!!!!!! Very pleased with the camera!!!!
Summary: I can't say enough in praise of this "dynamo"; I'll just say a few words. I'm no beginner to photography, having been school at developing and making own prints 50 years ago. My first encounter with a Nikon was in a photo-journalism class at THE Ohio State University with a hefty Nikkormat. This Japan-made "dynamo" fills many a need for some excellent quality images.
