Inexpensive and surprisingly robust for an older camera.

Summary: I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas. Believe it or not, it was to replace an older camera of this exact make and model which had broken years before and she simply never had the resources or energy to devote to purchasing. I did, so I bought it for her on our first Christmas together.
Excerpt: I've had this camera from new and it has been a very reliable compact. I still use it quite often when I don't want to lug heavy gear around. It fits easily into a small pocket. The LCD screen on the back is small by today's standards but it does have an optical viewfinder.
Summary: I love this digital camera, my 2nd one. It lis very light and small and fits everywhere. The quality of the pictures is outstanding. Great transaction also. I would recommend to buy it. Thank you!
Summary: I purchased a Coolpix 7600 in July of 2005 to use on a 15,000 mile round trip from my home in far West Texas to the Arctic Ocean at Deadhorse, Alaska. I had no problem learning how to use it and took around 3,000 photos with this camera on the trip.
Summary: OK, so I've had the Nikon Coolpix 7600 for 4 years now (today is 1/8/10) and I'm ready to upgrade. Here's my experience: A) Bought it for vacation. Didn't work. Called Nikon while on vacation. Not much help. Customer Service was poor.
Worthless Piece of garbage - crappy resale value, no more nikon point and shoots!

Summary: I bought this camera about three years ago for well around 400$ at best buy, out of the box there were dead pixles on the lcd screen and it was fuzzy, they refused to give me a new one and nikon said they had to.. they still didnt and they wanted to charge me 50$ to return it!!!
Excerpt: the nikon coolpix 7600 is a small P&S compact with ED glass lense, the build quality is good, it is a bit thicker compaired to my coolpix l12 but that is not so much a problerm. the main porblem with this model is the unaceptable battery life (with alkaline 5 shots) , the shutterlag (even in sport...
Summary: I gave this camera one star because it worked perfect until the store warranty ran out. Then the lens stuck (on this mint condition camera). I did a google search for "coolpix lens stuck error" and realized that I will have to buy a different brand.
Summary: I bought this camera because I own other film Nikons, and unlike other cameras in its category, this one has a glass lens. What a mistake! First, the camera uses up batteries like crazy. You also have to tell it what sort of batteries you're using (alkalines, rechargeables or lithium).
