Excerpt: I have had this camera since it was released. I went out and got a Canon SD800IS because it was pocket-sized and had over 7M MP. The Canon was/is great, but this Nikon holds its own. I took a couple of pics to compare (macro), and the detail of the Nikon was awesome.
Excerpt: Wonderful camera. Takes very impressive photos compared to all the other 4mp cameras I have seen. In fact a couple buddies of mine bought 5mp cameras (both sony's) a year after mine and yet we all agree the Nikon takes superior photos.
Excerpt: I have taken many many thousands of photos over the two years I have owned the 4300. The camera has performed faultlessly during this time. It is a little slow by the standards of today's models, though shooting in continuous mode and using a Sandisk Ultra II card makes a noticeable difference.
Excerpt: This camera has endured over 2 years use in a R&D department for an aftermarket automotive manufacturer. Dust, debris, dropping onto the floor haven't caused any degradation in clarity. We are planning to cycle this camera to back-up status and buy another Coolpix as our primary.
Great color. Great macro. Needs help w/low light and saves
6 August 2004
Summary: I'm a Nikon nut. Period. The colors that this camera yields is terrific. The macro ability of the camera out of the box is awesome. But, it takes a long time to save each picture. In low light, it struggles to focus.
Summary: I "traded up" my Nikon 885 of two years for this one recently and I have not been disappointed. I particularly like the Best Shot Selector feature, which has rescued a great shot for me on many occasions. I do a lot of enlargements, cropping, etc., and the resolution is amazing even at 11x17.
Summary: The other reviewers have clearly pointed all the good things about this camera, which i do agree. But there are certain issues ( might be they are to me ) here - All of them are minor & not major ones though, .
Summary: We use older versions (880, 885) of this model in the office and I find them to produce excellent quality photos. I personally own a 4300. The 4300 is a very durable, compact package, and I find Nikon to be a brand that I can trust. It comes with a 16MB flash card that you will need to upgrade!
Summary: I reviewed several digital cameras before settling on this one. This one was rated very high by several people (check out this site and epinions.com). I have not been disappointed with my purchase. Picture quality in outdoor settings is indistinguishable from 35mm.
