Summary: I bought this camera ten years ago and loved it....but the door to battery broke and it cost more than the camera to fix. I tossed the camera but kept accessories. Decided to look on ebay for replacement after my new Canon point and shoot broke in less than a year. The Nikon is easy to hold and operate, it's familiar and I grab it when I don't feel like lugging my SLR around.
Excellent Product Good for the money paid. Not to expensive.

Summary: I had a Nikon Coolpix 4300 before and ahd purchased extra batteries and Compaq Flash cards when I dropped in Vegas. It always took great pictures. Wanted a replacement. Sometimes one of the batteries would die on me. They would charge pretty fast. This is wh I decided to look on ebay for a replacement. Even though I am looking to buy a Digital SLR Camera in the future. I can evenntually give this camera to my children to take on field trips.
Excerpt: I have had this camera since it was released. I went out and got a Canon SD800IS because it was pocket-sized and had over 7M MP. The Canon was/is great, but this Nikon holds its own. I took a couple of pics to compare (macro), and the detail of the Nikon was awesome. I could not justify owning the Canon aside from the fact that it was so tiny and easy to take to bars, restaurants, etc.
Excerpt: Wonderful camera. Takes very impressive photos compared to all the other 4mp cameras I have seen. In fact a couple buddies of mine bought 5mp cameras (both sony's) a year after mine and yet we all agree the Nikon takes superior photos. Flash fills out the pictures quiet nicely, although sometimes the camera focuses poorly if flash is needed. Image color without flash is suberb and almost always true to life.
Excerpt: I have taken many many thousands of photos over the two years I have owned the 4300. The camera has performed faultlessly during this time. It is a little slow by the standards of today's models, though shooting in continuous mode and using a Sandisk Ultra II card makes a noticeable difference. Images exhibit natural colour with little noise, even at higher ISO settings, and chromatic abberation is not discernible.
Excerpt: This camera has endured over 2 years use in a R&D department for an aftermarket automotive manufacturer. Dust, debris, dropping onto the floor haven't caused any degradation in clarity. We are planning to cycle this camera to back-up status and buy another Coolpix as our primary. This camera is inexpensive and does the job better than most cameras priced somewhat higher.
Great color. Great macro. Needs help w/low light and saves

Summary: I'm a Nikon nut. Period. The colors that this camera yields is terrific. The macro ability of the camera out of the box is awesome. But, it takes a long time to save each picture. In low light, it struggles to focus. Be sure to go to Nikon.com and upgrade your camera's firmware and get the latest version of the NikonView 6 software. Overall great!
Summary: I "traded up" my Nikon 885 of two years for this one recently and I have not been disappointed. I particularly like the Best Shot Selector feature, which has rescued a great shot for me on many occasions. I do a lot of enlargements, cropping, etc., and the resolution is amazing even at 11x17. I've experienced the same problems with the 4300 (as well as the 885) that others have noted - lag time, lens cap, power consumption, redeye, etc.
Summary: The other reviewers have clearly pointed all the good things about this camera, which i do agree. But there are certain issues ( might be they are to me ) here - All of them are minor & not major ones though, . this camera keeps on autofocussing ( in auto mode ) with a buzzing sound which can't be stopped. Would be really good if they have given an option to stop this autofocussing. .
