Summary: I purchased this item and within a few months began having problems with the lens. When I contacted the seller for warranty information, I was informed that there was NO warranty because it came from Japan. What? This is ridiculuous and should be stated up front when purchasing.
Excerpt: Have been using it for a week with the 10-30mm kit lens and normal jpegs. Photos viewed on their own look very good. WB, focus, image stabilisation and general speed are good enough. Comparing it's results with smaller sensor compacts reveals problems.
Summary: This is my opinion and everyone's different. I hope you find this review helpful. Pro's and Cons are below. I'm going to cover all of the bases on what I liked and disliked about the Nikon 1 J2.

Summary: There are so many reviews. Firstly, may be the J series caters to certain kind of end customers. Me certainly not one of them. Having said that this might suit someone perfectly who is moving up from a regular P&S type of camera or soccer / hockey moms and dads who do not want to lug a heavy...
Excerpt: This is a pretty fast camera both in still photography and video. Autofocus is fast and accurate. For daylight action this camera is quite acceptable. Features are useful and the usability is acceptable in manual mode, too.
Summary: My old camera takes good pictures but it has a delay when pushing the button and shutter action. This Nikon seems to be fast in that regard, however it has sensors (red eye reduction lamp and infrared receiver) on the camera body in locations exactly where any photographer's hand would cover when...

Summary: I take quite a few pictures either with my SLR, or my iPhone. I thought the Nikon 1 J2 Compact System Camera with 10-30mm and 30-110mm Double Lens Kit - White (10.1MP) 3 inch LCD might be a nice "in between" camera, a camera I could drop in my purse for those times I'm out and about with friends.
Summary: I had fairly limited time with the camera. I didn't spend any longer than it took to deplete the barely charged battery. Why? Because they do not properly support PAL. So no 25/50 fps video recording. It does have a setting for clicker reduction, which locks the longest shutter speed at 1/100th.
