Summary: I purchased this item and within a few months began having problems with the lens. When I contacted the seller for warranty information, I was informed that there was NO warranty because it came from Japan. What? This is ridiculuous and should be stated up front when purchasing. DO not buy from JP Camera....
Excerpt: Have been using it for a week with the 10-30mm kit lens and normal jpegs. Photos viewed on their own look very good. WB, focus, image stabilisation and general speed are good enough. Comparing it's results with smaller sensor compacts reveals problems. Outside in good daylight it is not much better and sometimes even slightly worse than my Olympus XZ-2 whose zoom lens has a 2 stop advantage.
Summary: This is my opinion and everyone's different. I hope you find this review helpful. Pro's and Cons are below. I'm going to cover all of the bases on what I liked and disliked about the Nikon 1 J2. First off, I had this camera for about a month and I got to try out all of the different thing's and formed my opinion. I bought this camera in November and returned it exactly a month later in December.
So so, after testing this myself, think Nikon got this one wrong

Summary: There are so many reviews. Firstly, may be the J series caters to certain kind of end customers. Me certainly not one of them. Having said that this might suit someone perfectly who is moving up from a regular P&S type of camera or soccer / hockey moms and dads who do not want to lug a heavy traditional DSLR. Pros: 1. Light weight, well constructed metal body, easy to carry, easy to operate 2.
Excerpt: This is a pretty fast camera both in still photography and video. Autofocus is fast and accurate. For daylight action this camera is quite acceptable. Features are useful and the usability is acceptable in manual mode, too. Slow motion videos (400 and 1200 fps) have low resolution but some subjects do look impressive when slowed down to these speeds. General build quality is good. There is, however, a problem with the image quality.
Summary: My old camera takes good pictures but it has a delay when pushing the button and shutter action. This Nikon seems to be fast in that regard, however it has sensors (red eye reduction lamp and infrared receiver) on the camera body in locations exactly where any photographer's hand would cover when they hold the camera while shooting. I'd expect more from the Nikon brand.
Summary: I bought this camera to have something smaller than a DSLR for traveling around Europe. The first thing to know about this camera is even with the 10mm prime lens it is too large to be pocketed in jeans. Also note this is basically a point and shoot that you can change the lens, this is nothing like a DSLR. I have both the 10-30mm and 10mm lenses. Another odd thing is that none of the additional lenses come in orange, only black, white and silver are available. Pros: 1.
Summary: This is a nice camera and it takes a great picture, however, after only using it for one weekend I am a little disappointed in a couple of things. The camera times out very quickly and you have to press a button and turn the lense to get it to turn back on. If you want to zoom, you have to manually turn the lens, I would prefer a button zoom.

Summary: I take quite a few pictures either with my SLR, or my iPhone. I thought the Nikon 1 J2 Compact System Camera with 10-30mm and 30-110mm Double Lens Kit - White (10.1MP) 3 inch LCD might be a nice "in between" camera, a camera I could drop in my purse for those times I'm out and about with friends. Instead, I was left wondering what Nikon were actually aiming for.
