Excerpt: I was finally able to take a close look at the Nikon 1 AW1, just came back from Roatan from 4 full days snorkeling with the AW1 and kit lens. Background: I have been a photographer for over 35 years, and have used a variety of underwater cameras from film days: Nikonos and Housed 35mm and in the Digital age: Olympus m4/3, Panasonic GF3 w/housing, and waterproofed point and shoot from Canon, panasonic, etc.
What's worse--camera not waterproof or warranty worthless?

Summary: I purchased an AW1 from Amazon with great hopes for Caribbean underwater photography. Before leaving home in CT, carefully followed all the instructions (even further saturated the body "o" ring with silicone), locked down the hatches (both times) and rotated the lens until locked. Then when emerging from the water, had a problem with apparent condensation inside the LCD viewfinder indicating a possible leak even though the camera was never more than 10 feet underwater.
Excerpt: We have used our Nikon AW 1 from Key West with the sharks to the Adirondacks in the cold winter! A beautiful little camera. Our videos with it are on UTube! This is one amazing camera. Hopefully it will come to have a 6-15mm UW zoom lens in a while that has the O Rings etc. Buy it with B&H's Smart Buy as this is a underwater camera! We developed some gadgets for holding while free diving. Also Nocturnal Lighting from B&H helps in night snorkeling.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
Summary: i have a go pro camera, but i bought this one to have sports photography and i had amazing time skiing and shooting great pictures i tested in the pool, hot tube, under snow, worked fine for me 100% recommended
Excerpt: I use it to take pictures in both safe and extreme conditions. It's got a fast autofocus and is easy to use in point and shoot mode. Using it in manual mode requires fiddling with the menus and is quite inconvenient. The first time I took it underwater, it worked fine while in the pool but started acting screwy about an hour later. It's working fine now but I haven't taken it back into the water yet and have no idea what happened there.
Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Great Resolution, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
Cons: No Viewfinder, Poor Image Stabilization, Short Battery Life, Too Pricey
Excerpt: we have just received delivery of the Nikon 1 AW1 Mirrorless Digital Camera that we ordered some time ago .. our first reaction after making about 100 shutter clicks is that the Nikon 1 AW1 Mirrorless Digital Camera is a great addition to the Nikon camera line .. and being waterproof really adds value to the camera .. we are liveaboards on our boat and having a waterproof camera is a real asset for us ..

Carol and Marv ..
Summary: CON if u drop it in 30 feet you pick it in 30 ft. If you drop it deeper you better have an accidental insurance or a dive equipment insurance. Its gone. Be sure you check for any small foreign body as it will easily allow leaks (it sends a warning every time you use it) Be sure to check the locks. an open one allows leaks even if one lock is engaged (there are 2) Be sure to buy a silicon case. Its meant to for outdoor but the paints will flake when hit hard Its bulky.
Summary: I choose this camera to take pictures while kite boarding, diving and skiing. It is very robust. Picture quality is very good. Easy to use. I do not know about any other product with similar capabilities.
