Summary: Used this camera on a recent trip for snorkeling and scuba diving. Pictures were awesome. On the plus side: Good controls, fast startup, good battery life. ON the down side: tough to see the screen under water. Overall, aw1 is a very unique and very capable camera. I would recommend it.
Summary: I bought one this summer. I just have used it for a trip in the Yucatan peninsula in Nov / Dec 2014. I was really happy with the photo quality, even if the LCD sometimes is hard to see in full sun. I took great photos in the ocean and in sink holes. It also focuses really fast, great for some images of kite surfers. BUT I would often find droplets of water in the battery compartment even if i was careful at making sure there was no debris on the seal.
I have used Nikon for years but recent experience with their products has shown their reliability is extremely poor.

Summary: Stopped working after the second use. Nothing I tried could bring it back to life. I have used Nikon for years but recent experience with their products has shown their reliability is extremely poor.
Excerpt: I used this camera to photo surfing action which came OK. Still need to use it scuba diving and see how it preforms deep under water. It is easy to use but this is my second one after the first one had a defect. The con I see for now is that while shooting in the water, surfing water is coming in between the lens and the filter.
Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Good in Low Light, Great Resolution, Large Clear LCD
Summary: So far, so good. Appears to be as advertized. Have used it in rainy weather without any problems, but have not taken it underwater so cannot speak to that very critical issue. Look forward to beach walking with it and will see how it does with salt spray. Wish it had image stabilization but I knew when I bought it that it didn't so that's my problem.
Excerpt: I purchased this camera before our labor day vacation and it was the best decision I could have made. We planned a 7-day Caribbean vacation I couldn't decide which camera to take. I own a J3 but I was afraid it may get water damage. I looked at the alternatives but the AW1 seemed the most appealing and I was familiar with it's AF system and FPS which I liked.
