Product good, dealer lacking

Susan Trulove, Amazon
30 November 2012
  • Summary: The camera has almost all the features I wanted, but I had reviewed it before I bought and have experience with Minolta Dimage. Even though it is old, it has the fastest auto focus of any camera I have used (including new, high-end Canon), and the best antishake. Also, outstanding lens quality.

  • Excerpt: I've used this camera for 6 years, primarily for photographing kayakers and rowers racing on lakes and the ocean while pedaling a high speed pedal boat alongside. This camera has proven itself to be an excellent tool for the job, with its manual zoom being an important feature when used with an Ewa...

  • Summary: Cannot say enough about this camera. Have it for the past 4 years and I absolutely love it. Takes great pictures (250+) on a single charge. Has many advanced features, so don't spend the money unless you are going to use all the nice features.

Very good camera

John A. Lefcourte, Amazon
1 November 2008
  • Summary: I've had this for several years, bought it when it first came out. I like it very much, it took the place of 35mm film SLRs that I'd used for years. It is complicated to take maximum advantage of it's potential but it takes great pictures on the auto setting.

  • Excerpt: I have bought mine recently and obviously used, to have alongside my KM 7D and film Dynax 5L. At first I thought there was a problem with it as it was displaying some oblique vertical scanlines. As the hours passed, the lines disappeared.

  • Excerpt: Cons: * Pictures are quite noisy. On average day-pictures you won't notice if you don't look close (but then you can see it), but in more darkness it get's more and more disturbing. No chance for long-exposure pictures. * It could be more light-sensitive. * It could have an autofocus-light.

  • Excerpt: I now have a Canon 30D and I long to have my Minolta Dimage A1 back. It has the most versatile lens I have used and the anti-shake gives you the clearest pictures even on extreme telephoto and blown up.

Jeremy Housdan, DP Review

  • Excerpt: a very lightweight DSLR that is packed with just about every function you would ever need... even the ability to shoot video! The fact that it has a fixed lens is cool, as it reduces any risk of dust getting inside.
