Excerpt: I bought my V-Lux 2 knowing that it is 'just a Panasonic'. I happily added it to my collection which includes 'just a Nikon', a couple of 'just a Canon's and several other Panasonics. In fact, I have been using Lumix cameras since 2003 when I bought my first FZ1. Lumix cameras have nothing to be ashamed of or marginalized. They are GREAT! Panasonic produces outstanding electronic products, and Leica produces outstanding lens designs.
Summary: Takes clean, sharp, vivid photographs. Lighter than a DSLR. Great zoom. Only downside: CMOS sensor is much smaller than those for DSLRs, so you need strong light to avoid noise. Great for outdoor daylight shots, marginal for dimmer light. But when it's on, it's ON.
Summary: I bought this camera a few days ago and I have to say I am very pleased with it. I have shot some amazing outside photos as well as some close-ups that are stunning. (Note that I'm only an amateur photographer and this is by far the most advanced camera I have ever bought.) Pros: - Excellent zoom (up to 600mm!) and resolution. - Lightweight: Before deciding on Leica, I tried some Canons (550d) and they all felt a bit heavy.
