Summary: I'm delighted with this camera. It has more capabilities in a small package than i expected. Just wish it used the same battery as the Delux 3, so I could use the same batter/charger interchangably. Oh well. Again, great camera. Love the square format.
Summary: If you always wanted a Leica, this is a great entry level camera. I had always wanted one with the classic Leica style. But there was traditionally only the M series which cost a bundle. This has the style and the great picture resolution of a Leica but doesn't cost too much.
Summary: Compact. Battery life is OK. Good performance at night where other compact cameras cannot take acceptable pictures. The best camera I ever had. I bought two already, one for myself, one for my friend. No problem for over one year. Definitely recommend this even though I know the new model came out.
Summary: I've been using this camera for almost 5 months now and have taken more than 2000 snaps - This simply keeps surprising me with the quality of images. I was looking for a point and shoot which would be a back-up for a D-SLR and this perfectly fits the role. When I started using this camera initially, I had problems with the auto focus - I was just not able to get specific items focused in my frame.
Summary: This is my second Leica Dlux-5 and it is near perfect. It is crisp, great in low light, and has great color straight out of the camera without processing. It also looks and feels great. It is incremental from the Dlux 4, but the refinements to the functions and improvements to video make a huge difference. The downside, you pay a numbing penalty for the Leica look and branding when the Panasonic would do just as well.
Pros: This camera really idiot proof and produce good quality pictures. Awesome.....
Cons: In less light places, the quality and color depth still best for compact camera. But the brightness of the picture not so bright, i think need improvement and adding built in HDR. Its really troublesome if we still need to edit from light room.
Summary: I bought this with the EVF1 Viewfinder. This camera makes clear & sharp images and I like the RAW + Fine Jpeg setting. Working with the RAW files in Photoshop CS5 helps. I had a Canon EOS 5d Mark II and that was a great camera but I just got tired of carrying that theft and the extra lenses. With this Leica D-Lux 5 I like the easily changeable aspect ratios, especially the 16:9 & the various COLOR options...
Summary: I have always wanted a Leica because I have looked at sample images taken from Leica cameras and I have fallen in love with the way they appear. It is a tough obstacle to jump across having the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 as an option as it is roughly half the cost of the Leica. Both cameras are comprised of the same inner parts, however the body on the Leica is very refined and simple and reflects a elegant style.
Summary: I was looking for a compact camera that would fit in my jacket pocket and would take good quality pictures and have RAW capability. I currently have Canon T2 DSLR and a Canon Powershot SD700 but neither camera was suitable for all situations. I've owned the DLUX5 for about 4 weeks and there's zero buyer's remorse.
