  • Excerpt: Beautiful camera. I've had it for 6 months. I came back here to read up on cameras to recommend to a friend and came back in here to read the more recent reviews. I don't understand the complaints about noise. You get the same amount of noise from similar sensor sized cameras.

  • Excerpt: I finally decided I wanted the darn thing. So, a few days ago, while on the West Coast, I went by Kenmore Camera (Washington) and laid my hands on the D-Lux 3. Seriously solid bit of work.

  • Excerpt: I've only bought this camera today. I have been reading reviews on the internet about all the others out there, Canon, Olympus, Fuji, Panasonic and the only thing in common is that they all differ one from the other. There are as many different opinions as there are people posting about them.

great for what it is...(ie *not* a dslr)

nostatic, Amazon
13 February 2008
  • Summary: I get so tired of people whining about noise on small sensor cameras. "OMG, it is noisier than my 30D/D80/etc." Hmm...what was your first clue? Perhaps that the same number of pixels are being stuffed on a sensor that is almost an order of magnitude smaller in surface area?!?!?

  • Excerpt: Got the camera for my 60th Birthday. I've used it on holiday in New york and Goa with excellent results, so no complaints on image quailty, although as all other reviewers have found, it does deteriorate at Higher ISOs.

  • Excerpt: I do graphic design and photography by profession. I'm accustomed to using medium format cameras with digital backs and film, as well as SLR digital and film cameras, but I wanted a small digital camera to take on a trip to Mexico.

  • Summary: The pictures are amazing. Wish the menu and options were a litle more intuitive. Its going to take some time to master, but over time I think we are going to be very happy with this camera. Strong Recommendation!

Very nice, but not perfect.

  • Summary: I purchased a silver one a few weeks ago, and have taken it to a few trips and events and now have the following comments: 1) It is very small and light. This thing really is a point-and-shoot.

An almost perfect point-and shoot camera

W. Saumweber, Amazon
24 June 2007
  • Summary: I bought the camera because of the many manual overrides/controls it offers; also because it is the only one in the 10MP-class featuring the RAW image format. The camera indeed performs as the manufacturer promises.

  • Summary: can't say enough about this portable little beauty. but i'll start with one confession: sadly the complaints about noise do bode true. but if this is not your only camera then let go of that worry. i've been using this camera in multiple settings for a couple weeks now.
