What's Hot : Construction, look and feel is good. Mostly intuitive controls, although takes a little time to get familiar. Display is impressive and can be adjusted. What's Not : Not truly pocket size. No viewfinder. Noise above 200 ISO is noticeable -- processing within camera can produce muddy images. Lens cap attached to camera. Read more

The Leica D-LUX 3 is a 10.2 megapixel, compact point and shoot. The camera is designed to natively take wide format images, with a sensor that has 16:9 dimensions and a nice wide format 2.8 inch LCD. The D-LUX 3, jointly developed along with the Panasonic Lumx DMC-LX2, incorporates Leica-specified image processing tweaks to differentiate it from its Panasonic sibling. Read more

I purchased this camera D-Lux3 almost 4 years ago in 2008. My wife complained about the slower response time compared to Canon powershots. Yes a little bit slower than any other Point and Shoot cameras, however, because of that if the moment is right this camera takes fantastic pictures. Manual setting is very fun to do tricks. Probably Lumix version is smiler but that doesn't lower this camera's ratings. Read more

I sold almost all of my film equipment a few years ago but kept my Leica M6. That I'll never sell. So I was very curious to see this great little compact Leica that I can put in my pocket and take with me everywhere. So far I've used it traveling, at cocktail parties and hiking in the woods. I love the different formats you can shoot, 16:9, 3:2 and 4:3. The battery seems to last forever and the pictures turn out great. Read more

Leica D-LUX 3 Digital Camera 5 As a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 owner I wanted the ability to manually focus and adjust aperture and that was my main reason for purchasing this camera. I did not want to go the slr route because of the size and weight of those cameras. I put the heavy camera and the bag of lenses behind me 20 years ago. I wanted a very small and light point and shoot camera with the ability to make manual adjustments. Read more

I've had my D-Lux 3 for just over a year and seem to enjoy using it more and more. Took loads of photos at several weddings last year, very pleased with results. Just come back from the West Indies and it handled the bright light and colours very well. The lens cover can be a bit of a pain, but have got used to it now. Not having a view finder, especially when its sunny, can be awkward but other than that I'm very pleased with my camera. Read more

  • Leica D-Lux 3 as a Back-up

I own a DSLR camera, and as you know, it is a hassle to carry it around when you're not out to take pictures. I need a camera which I can carry around while I have fun with my friends and family. I am looking for a small camera w/ wide angle lens and the manual shooting mode. All Canon and Nikon products seem to fulfill only one need - not both. Is Panasonic version of this camera identical? Is this camera worth buying?
