Excerpt: I have had this camera for about 4 years, I bought it to capture all the memories of my children. I have found that this camera has brought many fond memories to life. It is very simple to use, and if you include the SD memory card in the camera you can store many pictures at once. I have found a few things that have made the camera a little akward to use and effects the use and quality of the camera.
Summary: The only reason that I'm giving this camera 3 stars rather than 1 was that it did take good pictures while it lasted. Great full featured camera, can use it like a manual if you're a good photographer and know what you're doing. I particularly like the feature that allowed you to take a wide panoramic picture - it did extremely well at knitting the photos together. Now here's the bad news. Although it's supposed to be easy to use, my wife never did get it.
Summary: Kodak NiMH rechargeable batteries (1.2V) don't last long in this camera. They take just a few pics before the camera shows low battery even though a simple battery tester will show them as still fully charged. Likely disposable alkaline or lithium batteries will work better but alkalines at least won't last long, creating a lot of waste.
Summary: This camera is great, loved it, have had it for a year and a half. Went to take pictures with it today (used it fine yesterday) and the LCD screen just shut off, wont come back on. I got it as an after christmas mark down, so I only spent 180 dollars on it, but still, I never expected it to do this. I still have my 2 previous EasyShare cameras and they work fine. Heard from a couple other people that this has happened to them too.
Summary: I bought this camera about a year and a half ago. It takes amazing pictures, but the lag time between taking one and another is horrible. I have two small children and with the long wait it really has cost me alot of great could-have-been shots. It also goes through batteries very quickly... I am constantly changing them... even with lithium. I would not purchase this camera again, even though the pictures are great.
Summary: I really like this camera. The settings are great mix of of buttons on the camera and through the menu. It takes GREAT pictures. I put them side by side with a friend's Canon Rebel XT and at the 7mp size, you couldn't tell them apart. The one huge, annoying issue is the lag time between pictures. It is 8 seconds between pictures. That is the worst of any camera I have owned. Even with quick view off, it doesn't make a difference.
Summary: Not exactly your point and shoot camera. While it has many good features, once again too many features can create operation problems. I missed a lot of good shots at the grandaughers graduation! The G600 printer dock is not worth the money. I'm sticking with my Kodak DX6440 for now. Easy operation - Great Pictures! and a variety of print options with my HP C5180 printer.
Summary: I purchased this camera today, and so far my first impressions are quite good. Having previously used the Fuji Finepix S5700, which in my opinion is a far superior camera, I feel the ZD710 is a little light and small even for my relatively small hands, however this is also a plus point as it makes the camera far more portable. The proprietary USB port is the most annoying 'feature' of the camera though.
Pros: Small and light, and very straight forward in use.
Cons: Proprietary USB port, small screen, annoying flash popping up all the time, horrible zoom control button
