Summary: Had a few issues with the camera freezing when we first received this. After a couple of emails back and forth the seller offered a refund. Before returning it I tried a different memory card and the freezing issue seemed to go away. Otherwise takes great pictures and has a good zoom. We didn't receive the vertical grip with ours though.
Summary: I owned a Kodak 7490 prior to this camera. Here are a few of my dislikes about the 980. The 7490 date stamp was yellow this one is red and in most cases impossible to see. The 7490 had a dock for downloading and recharging. The 980 uses a USB cord to download. To recharge you need to take the 4 AA batteries out to recharge and the charger they send is rediculous. It takes 16 hours and it will also overcharge so you need to keep on it.
Summary: I bought the camera for picture quality and lens quality and was not disappointed. However Kodak simply forgot a couple of important issues. Why on earth did they not allow the batteries to be recharged while installed in the camera? The feature of my old simple Easy-Share camera which recharges and can be downloaded when placed on its stand is totally missing.
Summary: It's a great little Adv. Point and Shoot camera. Pictures are pretty good but you will find some pictures to have some noise in them. The zoom is incredible and the auto focus is pretty fast. The one thing is the camera is pretty big especially with the optional grip attached. Overall though it's a pretty good camera. Make sure you get some pretty hefty rechargable batteries (2400 mAh or higher) because it eats thru them quick but they are easy to find.
Summary: Quick shutter response, light weight, zoom capability, versatility, great for an non-professional, and a great step up for the beginner. At this time I cannot give it an excellent rating, not enough time has passed since I bought this camera.
Summary: I only buy Kodak cameras and when I saw the specs on this one I had to have it. Many reviews mention the 'cheap appearance' or 'poor construction' and compared to my other Kodak cameras, I can see where they're coming from. What I like about this camera is that it is familiar to use and it takes great pictures. I could care less if it looks as good as my other cameras or if it appears to be less well constructed, the fact is that it functions as advertised.
Summary: the kodak z980 is easy 2 use . I didnt even look at the directions and I not a elec. gadget type. I havent had the prablems that I read about [lens cap dont fit ,need quality sd cardsect].but it is a bit light and cheap feeling , but I like the feel of the heft , I m old school wieght = quality . all in all I like it and ready to see what it can do.
Summary: Camera works good, I wish it was a little faster, I have missed some good shots waiting for the picture to take. I have tried different settings which helped, but over all I like it really well.
