Kodak Z1285 - disappointment
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I've had four different Kodak Easyshare Cameras. This one is, by far, the biggest disappointment. The quality is good, and I love the great zoom - although stabilization is an issue when completely maxing the zoom function. But the real disappointment is the battery issues. See this camera does not come with rechargeable batteries. And because there is only an LCD display screen for viewing the subject it drains the batteries VERY quickly.
Excerpt: I have been very disappointed in this Kodak Camera. When I first purchased it, I really liked the video capability, the zoom function, and the lack of a delay between when the button is pushed and the picture is actually taken. To be fair, when this camera is functioning properly, it does take decent pictures, the video capability is very nice, and the lack of a delay is excellent. However, it frequently does not function properly.
Cons: I bought one of these for me and one for my sister for Christmas. Mine burned through a set of batteries and then never worked again after that. My sister's also will not turn on. This camera is a total POS.
Pros: I love the quality of the pics and ease of use.
Cons: This is the 2nd Easyshare I've had that just doesn't power up. I've tried all different batteries but usually use the rechargeable NiMH's. No way this camera is turning on! I have to by a new one now, only 13 months old, rediculouis!!!!!
Summary: Camera was fine but had 2 serious problems: 1. taking photos in full sunshine w/o flash, every 3 shots or so the screen would say "Processing ..." and it would not take another photo for 10-15 seconds! 2. Tha battery life was terrible. Two fresh akalines got me less than 60 shots in full-sun with no flash and the LCD on for less than an hour total. I returned the camera and got a comparable Canon which I love.
Maybe an alright camera - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Summary: I bought this camera as our 2nd digital to backup our older Nikon. The "Easy Share" was advertised as having a better zoom than most, was small and reasonably priced, and the selling point -- easy to share photos with the internet, and others. However, I had a lot of problems getting it to transfer pictures to the computer - and really was appalled at the complete lack of help from the customer service.
Summary: This camera was a Christmas present for my wife and she was so excited. Even had good results for first 50 pics. Then it started. Batteries, batteries and more batteries to finish up Christmas Eve. What a disappointment. Have to send back to Amazon (I THINK AMAZON IS THE ONLY PLACE FOR ONLINE SHOPPING. CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GODOD THINGS.) PS We used 12 batteries on Christmas Eve and even bought a charger and rechargeable batteries. These did not last any longer.
