Good if you want a basic point and shoot.

shimamizu, epinions.com

  • Summary: If you want an older point and shoot camera, go for it. It's no longer manufactured though so you're going to have to find it used.
  • Pros: great point and shoot, decent macro mode, nice size, lots of presets
  • Cons: battery charge is picky, awful low light shots, limited manual options

Quality not that good

Chun Li, Amazon
26 April 2004
  • Summary: I have had the dx 6340 camera and the dock 6000 for about 6months now. I have had a few problems already: 1. The plastic cap that covers the lens sometimes does not open completely sometimes. 2. Rechargeable battery does not last long (with the 6000 dock) when using liveview (live lcd preview of picture being taken). I think this could be a firmware bug as a low battery indicator comes up when I use liveview even on fully charged battery. 3.

Good for beginners but bad for advanced users

thongngu, epinions.com
5 December 2003
  • Summary: Buy the Canon A70 instead. Even better if you can get an A80.
  • Pros: Ease of use, acceptable software, acceptable video, decent zoom lens, good LCD and flash.
  • Cons: Dark indoor pictures, slow and noisy lens, lack of manual features.

Great Camera, in theory

Sandra "sarrobles", Amazon
1 December 2003
  • Summary: This camera has some really nice features. Takes great pictures and is relatively easy to use. Have had some serious problems, though.. I recorded a clip using the internal memory. Instead of stopping it while it was recording, I let it go until it ran out of memory. When I tried to transfer the video clip, the camera read "No images to transfer" and would not acknowledge the video I had recorded.

Good beginners 2MP quality camera

intoprev, epinions.com
19 October 2003
  • Summary: If you're looking for a good 2MP camera with a well-rounded feature set, get this one. Its in the same price range, and is about that quality level.
  • Pros: Easy to use design and menus. Unlimited length on video clips with sound.
  • Cons: No compression options, like all current consumer Kodaks. Flash made pictures unreasonably dark. Software.

Good internals let down by useless casing

Alex "Slim B", Amazon
21 May 2004
  • Summary: As my first digital camera I was impressed with the unit at first. It seemed a good buy, not too heavy or light, and used SD which is my preferred memory format. The image quality was good, and the ability to take an unlimited amount of video is nice (even though it's in quicktime) The camera automatically adjusts images taken in portrait mode so you don't have to turn the pictures around manually, which is an especially neat feature.
