Good, rugged camera

  • Summary: I have used this camera for a mapping project. My experience has been very good: it has been dropped a couple of times on trails or sidewalks, and splashed by the surf. Nonetheless, it is still working well. One feature I like is that it has an unusual photo size, that is just right for computer screen display, 896X672 pixels. And as others have said, the controls are easy to use with gloves on. It also has a viewfinder as well as a display screen.

Kodak DC 5000 Camera

  • Summary: This camera is one of the best that Kodak ever produced. It is a water resistant camera that works. While working for the NYSDOT as a bridge inspector, I dropped one of these cameras into a river. I retrieved the camera and laid it in the sun on the dash of our van, left it there for 3 or 4 days and then startred using the camera again. It performed flawlessly even after spending time in the water.

DC5000 good and bad

17 June 2007
  • Summary: Camera is water resistant, do not let it get rained on hard. The rubber grips are problematic because the glue has a life span, and once it lets go, the rubber separates and there is NOTHING that will stick to the rubber, ive tried silicone, shoe goo, shoemakers cement, contact cement, 3M adhesive, NOTHING works. The battery door is poorly designed, hinge breaks, Kodak deliberately does not provide this part which forces you to pitch the camera.

Superb quality camera, best I've ever had

  • Excerpt: "I received this camera as a gift and I certainly can't complain. It takes excellent pictures and displays them well on the good sized screen on the back. You are given the option to zoom in to have a better look at your picture and then delete it if you are unsatisfied. It includes up to a 3x zoom when taking the picture and has features specifically for scenery pictures and also for closeups such as flowers and art. To zoom, all you need to do ...
  • Pros: Camera has great picture quality, a good range of features, is weatherproof, easy use
  • Cons: A little heavy and bulky and using the screen drains the 4AA batteries quickly

  • Excerpt: "...for money I chose the Kodak DC 5000 which I purchased from Future Shop in Winnipeg, Canada for Cdn$499 (Approx 225 UK pounds) . This price included a Cdn$100 (approx 43 UK pounds) instant rebate from the store. I also purchased a 16Mb memory card to supplement the 8Mb card included with the camera giving me a capacity on a normal setting of some 150 photographs. The quality of the pictures, even at setting below the highest definition, is ...
  • Pros: Value for money, easy to use, durable and weatherproof

  • Pros: Robust, gute Fotos
  • Cons: Zu dunkel, Sollbruchstelle
