Summary: I loved my first photosmart camera so when the camera broke...wanted to get another one. Since camera had been discontinued had to order a used one. Worked for over a year and then the flash quit working. Can still take excellent pictures on bright days, just not on the dark days. Otherwise I love the camera.....
Summary: I originally got an R707 (5 mega pixels) but the screen broke. Since it was under warranty, I sent it back to the manufacturer and got this camera instead - the R717. They gave me a free upgrade. First of all this is a thick camera. It's not one of those super slim ones. You can still fit it in your pocket but you will feel it more. Second it's a family point and shoot. It's not going to take rapid pictures or have quick flashes and like.
Summary: My Only complaint is the memory card was defective in a sense that the 2GB memory card was only able to hold 11 pictures and unable to save. I have an hp photosmart 2610xi all-in-one which has a card reader and an error appears can't read it only out of the camara. And that's a shame. Over the week end I went to the Auto Show and I was disappointed with the unit only to find out it was the memory card, I didn't bring a spare one with me.
Summary: This is a very nice camera, good quality. It's user-friendly and simple to use, but has ample features. I initially had trouble with the driver download from HP, but got it straightened out. I had an older HP digital camera years ago, and it actually took clearer photos than other cameras with more megapixels.
