Summary: I had one of these GE X-5 Digital cameras 2 or 3 years ago and got it locally. It worked very good, was speedy and took nice photos until I dropped it by mistake. So, recently I ordered basically the similar GE X-500 camera on Amazon for a decent price.
Summary: If I could give this camera negative stars, I would. The screen display on the back is severely discolored to the point that you can't even tell what the composition of the picture is supposed to be. that's really the only way to take a picture, too.
Summary: I have used digital cameras a great deal (about 60-100 pics per day) for my profession. This is absolutely the worst camera I have purchased to date. Macro is virtually non-existant and the camera tends to focus and then go out of focus and soon as you press the button to actually take the photo.
Summary: GE sucks. I bought this camera based on amazon reviews before taking a family trip to Ireland. We must have gotten a lemon. It worked fine before we went, but then, halfway through the trip, I had the awful discovery that 80% of my photos, which looked fine after I took them, had disappeared.
Summary: I just purchased two of these at the same time. I also recently purchased, just prior to the GE purchase, two Canon PowerShot SX150 IS 14.1MP Digital Cameras. The Canon's take a picture that is "in line" with the view on the preview screen, as one would expect.
Summary: I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed in the picture quality from this camera. The features are great but no matter what setting I chose, the pictures were very blurry. I would not reorder this camera again.
Summary: I bought this camera because the reviews were great, and I wanted something that was a step up from my current camera. I'm returning it. I've never returned anything to Amazon. I usually find a way around it. Give the item to someone else. Anything, but go through a return.
Summary: I've had this camera for more than a year now - it has some oddities folks should know about - I purchased this for photography in open landscapes - specifically, a Death Valley trip and discovered it has sensitivities to heat - it's VERY slow to process and perhaps for landscapes I thought this...
