Summary: I was tired of taking pictures with my Insignia 12mp 1080p camcorder for the last year or so, and wanted to step up some. Tho the pictures were absolutely fine, it is fully auto, period. It is a great Full HD 1080p camcorder that you can pick up for less than $100 most days on eBay, but very restrictive for photos. I wanted more control over the usual stuff and decided to go looking for a low cost used DSLR.
Summary: I have had point and shoot digital cameras for about 10 years now. They have all been good but I missed my old 35mm and all its settings. Well I didn't want to go for a full on professional digital camera but wanted something closer to what my old film camera was. The GE X500 fit the bill perfectly. I have used it for stills and action shots of fighter jets at a recent airshow. All the pictures turned out incredible.
Summary: got the ge-x500 w/ bag, 8gb sd, and tripod around $140(good bang for the buck at the time) june of 2013 to upgrade from a very frustrating Olympus fe46 drove me mad to get a great shot then have so many bad ones.....hoped this would change that....for the most part yes...still get bad shots but much less frequently and as I have learned to use the functions better( but just because i set the automatic scene on sport doesn't mean an action shot won't be blurry or scene...
Summary: Me being in possession of this camera wasn't really my choice. I got this camera as a Christmas gift many years ago to replace a Sony Cybershot 3.2 megapixel point an shoot that got stolen from me.
Pros: In the short term it's a very inexpensive digital camera to take pictures.
Summary: I had one of these GE X-5 Digital cameras 2 or 3 years ago and got it locally. It worked very good, was speedy and took nice photos until I dropped it by mistake. So, recently I ordered basically the similar GE X-500 camera on Amazon for a decent price. This camera is slightly updated compared to my GE X-5 also sold here. I know this camera has a lot of good reviews and ratings on it...but this camera I got this time around is basically a piece of junk.
