Summary: Don't run away just yet! You CAN do a lot with this camera, using features that many cameras in this price range just don't give you! Big as a fridge, and sexy as a toaster, it's hiding a few surprises. The auto focus on the E850 is more dependable than that on any of the over 2 dozen different digital cameras I have owned and shot with. What a pleasure to have the camera in your hands focus accurately, time after time!
Summary: I was plesantly surprised by this camera . This camera certainly is not the most elaborate one out there ,nor is it the most expensive. I would say it has more features and is easier to use for a camera in it's price range should have, and that is the great thing about it. It takes great pice,is easy to use ,very compact, and ,odd enough, looks really cool!
Summary: I picked up this camera as an upgrade to my current 5mp camera and I was not disappointed in the features. I shot some long shots of my grandson and they turned out great. The only complaint is that it is a bit slow on the boot up, but the rechargeable battery is good for a long time, so it is not a real problem.
Excerpt: New point-and-shoot cameras pad their megapixel count to the double digits, but often forget about optical zoom capabilities, which can often be a more useful feature. Usually, point-and-shoot cameras don't offer much beyond a standard 3X optical zoom, but GE's mid-range E850 camera will feature 5X optical zoom. The E850 will also include an 8-megapixel sensor, a 3-inch LCD display and a 28mm wide-angle lens.
