Excerpt: The FujiFilm Finepix Z700 EXR is a 12-megapixel digital camera with a 3.5-inch LCD screen with a Fujinon 5x zoom, face detection, recognition and tracking. You don't even need to press the shutter button to take a photo, just touch the LCD screen to focus and capture images more quickly, thanks to Touch and Shoot.
Excerpt: Fujifilm's FinePix Z700EXR is a powerful and innovative new digicam that combines a their Super CCD EXR sensor with their high quality Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens for capturing superior 12-Megapixel images. For framing and viewing your images Fuji has added a 3.5-inch touch screen display with a graphical interface that changes with the orientation of the camera, the same way that a touch screen cell phone changes.
Conclusion: Overall, the camera has a lot of features which may or may not come in handy. For example, archiving photos or searching for photos on the camera itself is great on a trip but once you reach home, you normally transfer everything to your computer to view the pictures on a larger monitor. It's also great that the camera has 5x Âoptical zoom and HD video recording.
Pros: Touchscreen LCD; 5x optical zoom; simple menu system.
Summary: So, the Fuji Z700EXR is a decent camera – particularly considering the touchscreen and the pricepoint under $250. While I prefer the functionality and overall performance of the Sony Cyber-shot TX7 , the Z700EXR is a decent alternative for those not wanting to spend quite as much on a touchscreen compact.
Summary: The Fujifilm FinePix Z700EXR doesn't quite have the style of Sony's Cyber-shot TX-series cameras, but it's still pretty smart, and it's much cheaper. The touchscreen interface works well, and the face-detection mode is very effective.
Pros: Handy touchscreen-based shooting mode, Large display
Cons: EXR technology adds complexity but little else, Lacks a wide-angle zoom, Picture quality is only average
Summary: Designing a camera around a touchscreen makes a lot of sense. If you're going to have a display on the back anyway, why not double it up as a control method? That's the route taken by Fujifilm's slim, slick-looking Z700EXR. Fujifilm's Z700EXR strips back the hardware controls to just a shutter button, a 5x zoom rocker and a playback/camera toggle. Everything else is handled by the 3.5in touchscreen – and, in fact, you can take pictures with the touchscreen alone.
