Excerpt: My Fujifilm XP100 Rugged and Waterproof Camera Back a few of years ago, I bought my step-daughter a Fuji XP10 camera for her graduation present. She is a lifeguard and I felt that a compact waterproof camera would be great for her. For a relatively inexpensive compact camera, it has served her well and she still uses it to this day (when she isn't glued to her cellphone).
Summary: We use cameras in our utility work. So they have to be able to be treated a little rough. This one is great, little rain won't hurt it. The lens doesn't expand out the front like others. This is important because when those camera get banged a little, then the lens is stuck in or out, the camera is trash. No issues with this camera. The GPS is a bonus as we can plot where we took the photo on a map.
Summary: We purchased this in 2012 for the sole reason that it was waterproof and shockproof. Obviously the waterproof function is rarely used so it has unfortunately taken 2 years to find out that the camera leaks. After returning from a recent holiday, the opening catches have become corroded and also the inside parts are starting to corrode. I have contacted Amazon and hope to hear a reply.
