Excerpt: I purchased a XP10 for my husband a few weeks back. This camera was advertised to be extremely versitle and rugged, but its quite the opposite. We are a military family and the camera was said to be able to keep out with my husbands job. He first took it out on a training activity for 3 weeks. Most of the work consisted of ship duty, and a week of being out in the field. When he returned home we loaded the photos up on our mac to see the poor quality of shots he had.
Summary: I bought this camera for my daughter to take on her honeymoon. It filled with water on its first use. It was in only a few feet of water and all compartments were closed. It had a leak somewhere.
Pros: I purchased this on Amazon for 129.99 last month thinking I got a deal because the XP20 was coming out.
Cons: Pretty Much everything from hard buttons and long startup and hazy pictures. . Probably could of lived with those if the thing worked for more then 2 days in Aruba. Moisture was seen on the LCD and lense 2 days into the trip and then it wouldnt turn on.
Pros: I suppose it really is "proofed" in all of the areas it claims to be, but we're not even keeping it long enough to find out.
Cons: Very poor picture quality (color, speed, flash quality), okay video features . . .feels cheap to hold, powers up slowly, takes a long time to shoot any kind of photo which is very frustrating with kids.
Summary: I bought this camera at local Costco. It looked sleek, stylish and sportsy. But, when it came to charging the battery after opening the box, I got baffled. This camera does not have a charging port - period. Every time you need to charge the battery, you have to pry open the battery from the camera, insert it in a stand alone charger and then insert it back into the camera. Ease of use and readiness on the moment are why people go for low profie digital cameras.
Summary: We bought this to replace our z233 Fujifilm waterproof camera. I've been buying Fuji digital cameras since the beginning of the end of film back in the late 1990's. I make a living with a camera, and got this for my wife as a gift for our upcoming cruise to the Caribbean. We used it over Thanksgiving, took about 250 photos and a few videos. Not a single image was sharp. Compared to our older fuji z233, this camera is not second place, it isn't even in the game.
Summary: My old 3 megapixel camera takes better pictures than this! I like the size and ruggedness features but that's as far as it goes. Never used this underwater but it did fine in the rain until I tried taking a picture while it was wet. Any little bit of water on the lens results in weird looking dots all over the picture. About the only pictures that turned out mostly ok were the Macro pictures of flowers. Everything else came out grainy and fuzzy and with weird contrast.
Summary: This camera has been nothing but problems since I ordered it. Now the screen's died completely; the thing takes pictures, but if you can't see what you're looking at, there's not much to do. Now fujifilm wants ME to pay for shipping to send it in to their repairmen. Absolute crap. [Updated 2 June 2011]: Sent the camera back to Fujifilm, which they "fixed", then managed to get a friend to bring it down to Costa Rica for me, where, WITHIN 2 WEEKS!!!! it broke again.
